“Relaxed stay ”

Very clean and well-appointed hotel. Friendly helpful staff. Good food, clean dining areas, and bars. Good sized pool also very clean. Pool areas kept tidy and gardens neat. Very close to beautiful beach. There's not much to do out of season except relax.

Decided to book directly with the hotel for a Christmas break. Booked a beachview suite as a treat and booked all-inclusive. On arrival, no one was able to help us with bags, I understand it was Christmas, but staff were generally short on the ground. Given a key card and directions to our room right on the other side of the pool. It was the furthest point from the hotel! However, views were great, overlooking the walkway along the beach, the beach itself and a prime view of the looky looky men! The room is a little dated, full of glass mirrors, marble floors and wooden furniture. However, it was clean, bed was comfortable, and our friendly cleaners looked after us well, bringing more towels, turning down the beds at night, flowers and the odd chocolate! The sunken bath is deep and not particularly comfortable, but a novelty. The main atrium of the hotel is interestingly cavernous but has no atmosphere. Bar staff were generous with the measures, and quite friendly. Sadly, the entertainment was an hour only at 10pm, bingo, karaoke or on Christmas Eve, a disco! Mainly Spanish songs too. The restaurant food can only be described as dire. We arrived on 24th December, to a Gala Dinner. This meant white table cloths, a cooked turkey and a man dressed as Santa giving out party hats and the food was acceptable. Usual gripes about buffet food, it was cold, any vegetables were frozen not fresh, salads were a hash of previous days foods, and certain things run out quickly. The two chefs at the cooking station were rushed off their feet and very stressed, in the mornings there was 1 cook only. Meat dishes were odd and looked unappetising, liver, ox tail, chunks of roasted turkey, sausages cut into chunks and bland pasta dishes. After 4 days of the same foods, we decided to eat out, and then we checked out a day early after the hotel was inundated by over 200 teenage volleyball players, obviously attending a tournament. They decimated the breakfast buffet, cereals, pastries, bacon, eggs, bread and fruit juices all emptied so that was our cue to check out! The hotel needs an injection of TLC, flaking cement on walls, tiles missing in the pool, indoor pool needs a clean, sunbeds were dirty, it needs updating. Cannot fault the staff though, hard working, friendly, helpful, polite. They deserve a raise!

This is my second visit to the hotel with a gap of about 5 years. I am writing on behalf of my fiancée too. The hotel is a mix of very good points but is dragged down by some aspects which I think are glossed over or in some cases ignored in the high rating comments. The good things - hotel is a spectacular building and very well situated. The rooms are spacious and kept very clean by attentive housekeeping staff; the lady looking after us earned a good tip. Overall the staff are very helpful and a couple of issues with the room were dealt with immediately. I feel it doesn't deserve any higher rating until the hotel addresses key failings, some of which existed on my last visit. Do not be swayed by any positive comments about the food. There are indeed wide choices, the salads are excellent and the breakfast offers wide choices too. Here is the downside. Apart from the food cooked fresh, everything served from the buffet area is at best lukewarm and sometimes cold. The hot plates do not keep the food hot! Some investment is needed to remedy this problem. I don't know why other teviews just make passing remarks. This spoils the whole eating experience, it may well have wide ranging choices but are you prepared to eat barely warm food, use the microwave to heat it up or depend on the limited choice in the cooking area? By the way, sometimes the food cooked there is cold if you serve yourself from the trays. If you are vegetarian then you can look forward to a limited choice of luke warm pasta and vegetables or lots of chips! The catering really needs to include vegetarian options using Quorn or other substitutes. The room we had was are very basic and does not meet my expectations of a 4 star hotel. Inadequate draw space and no bedside drawers. No coffee/tea making facilities and a charge to use the room safe. When I asked about tea making, there are only two options - you can leave a deposit and have a kettle (no cups or tea, coffee or sugar); or you can pay for a room upgrade. Finally, be prepared for noise! The atrium is beautiful but the loud conversations spoil any expectations of tranquility. The entertainment is very limited and includes bingo twice and karaoke. The 'entertainment' is outside by the pool so every room facing the pool will be disturbed till very late. The audience is relatively small and close enough to the stage. The PA is far too loud and the entertainment staff shout too! Overall, if you are not Spanish then in my opinion don't use this hotel. I am afraid we will not come back and will pass on our dissatisfaction to the travel agent. If you ignore my remarks or are pursuaded by others or indeed by the hotel response I can guarantee luke warm food, low quality room facilities and lots of noise.
