Well where can I start! We have been coming to this hotel for 12 years plus and I hope we can come back every year for anther 50 years! The staff are extremely friendly and the owner well absolutely amazing! They can’t do enough for you. We had our wedding here and it was the best day of our lives! The food is amazing and the location is fantastic! I love that we try and get a sea view room every time we come over however every room has its own unique style that we love. This hotel means a massive deal to myself, my partner and family. Thank you El Dorado!

We recently got married at this hotel and can’t recommend enough! It was absolutely spectacular with unmatched views and charm. The hotel staff were incredible, not only throughout the wedding planning process but the day itself was incredible too. From the decor to the atmosphere it truly was a day to remember. We booked the entire hotel for the weekend and all of the rooms were spotlessly clean. There was an issue with one of the rooms’ air conditioning and the hotel owner fitted a brand new unit the same day without hesitation. The location is perfect right on the beach, and a short walk away from bars and restaurants. We had a buffet for our wedding meal and we received praise from every guest with how good the quality was. I honestly can’t recommend this hotel enough and will be returning every year without fail.

HOTEL El Dorado means ' the golden hotel' and you can see why as soon as you step inside at the reception- ornate white pillars are trimmed with gold and the front doors are worthy of any Sutans palace ! Delightful owner who is extremely friendly and sure to make your stay special. Our room directly overlooked the beach and the morning sun rise was stunning. Room was spacious and had a day bed in addition to a king sized bed . Terrace to front of room with table and chairs and 2 sun loungers directly overlooking beach - what more could you want ? Lovely terrace around pool with loungers/tables and chairs in the sun and shade. Comfortable lounge area in hotel that even has a grand piano ! It is a hotel of yesteryear for sure- stylish and elegant. Yes it is old and a little faded around the edges but that only adds to its appeal. A veey relaxing and comfortable stay. Walking distance into Carboneras town centre either on the pedestrianised promenade or on pavements/ roads. Hotel is surprisingly listed only as 2 star property.

When we booked this hotel we had no idea of it's history. It was just a geographically convenient overnight, travelling from Costa Blanca to Costa del Sol. So when we saw the extraordinary front doors and entered the hotel, we had a big surprise. Especially learning that the movie director David Lean built the hotel for the filming locally of Laurence of Arabia and other movies. Another nice surprise when we walked through the beautifully furnished huge lounge to our room facing the sea. For us, we enjoyed the sound of the sea. The staff and owners were very welcoming - including for our labrador too. A lovely large room with a huge fridge and a clean modern bathroom. Earlier reviews mentioned cold eggs - but we asked - and were served a delightful breakfast - with eggs cooked to order. We will definitely stay here again. Carboneras is also a lovely small town with a smart boardwalk.

“A fabulous location and great staff”
The hotel is quirky, different and individual. The location is a 10 min walk from the center of town, but it is right on the beach. There was something special about falling asleep to the crash of the waves, we loved it. Add to that great staff - cheerful, helpful & nothing was too much trouble.… more

There was something special about falling asleep to the crash of the waves, we loved it. Add to that great staff - cheerful, helpful & nothing was too much trouble. We got some great recommendations about places to eat. The only negative for us was that the bar was never open when we were there. Yes, they would get you a drink OK, but we missed the atmosphere you get from a nice little G&T in the bar before going out to dinner. We had a lovely big room with a private terrace that got the sun all day. It was simply furnished but big and airy and spotless. For me the question is always - would you go back? To this the answer is a resounding YES! Thank you for a great week.
