We stayed here for a full 7 nights during our first visit to Spain. As we entered the room, it appeared stuffy and hot. The A/C isn't powerful but sort of just works away quietly in the background. The old Spanish tiles, clay floor tiles and wood bed is a very traditional feel so do not expect anything modern and shiny. Having a balcony with a 'lateral' sea view was great! It was lovely opening the privacy louvred doors and glass doors every morning. Our balcony was a great space to sit out with a drink and relax every evening. The staff speak several languages and were always helpful. It felt a little weird to relinquish our passports when we checked in but they only kept it overnight. The most amazing thing was the daily housekeeping service! We got back to our rooms each afternoon to fresh towels, made beds, emptied trash. We certainly didn't expect this. The buffet breakfasts and dinners were extensive with so much on offer. Each night the food was varied and they offered both local Spanish dishes and international favourites. The dinner staff were excellent in their service too. Lastly, you cannot get a better location. Staying on the coast is preferred than staying more inland. The hotel is at most 5 minutes walk to the main part of town and all of the activities, cruise kiosks, tourism info office and all the shops, bars and restaurants. If we returned to Roses, we wouldn't stay anywhere else! The only thing I would love to see is the offer of beach towels than having to buy any. Certainly the pool towels should be made available at the front desk for use at the beach. When I did go to ask for pool towels, I was told there were none. Also, we had to deal with water going outside the shower tub everytime we showered and it became standard to use the bath mat and a small towel to soak up the water and then wring the towels out. The hotel should really consider ripping all the tubs out and installing non-leak shower stalls, especially in a dry climate that is more and more experiencing drought.

“Pleasant stay at the Roses Platja”

I stayed at this hotel with a Rail Discoveries group. The location is excellent, by the beach and within easy walking distance of the town centre. The staff were pleasant and the room was cleaned daily. Bar prices were reasonable, with very good service. There were a few downsides, however. My room was a standard double but the very large double bed took up most of the space and the room would function better as a single. There was a kettle and a few tea bags provided but these were not replenished which could have been done at minimal expenses. There was a wide choice of food at breakfast and the evening buffet but dishes described as vegetable should not contain small pieces of meat!

A bit of a mixed bag with this review starting with the positives - Pros: The hotel enjoys an idyllic location, almost on the beach with stunning views across the bay. Spacious inside bar, outside terrace, dining room, lobby/reception, bright, nice décor. Good value drinks and snacks. Helpful staff on reception, especially Celia, special thanks for being so helpful :). The walk along the promenade into Roses centre took about 10+ mins, very pleasant stroll in the evening. Standard buffet breakfast, a few hot dishes, and the usual continental options. Cons: We booked a double room and was allocated a twin. After contacting reception, they offered us a double room with partial sea view for an extra €10 per night. We accepted and found that the room was located on the 1st floor, dark with a side glimpse of the sea. After the first very hot sleepless night we advised reception that the air con was not functioning and were informed that only rooms on the 4th floor had air con (at this time). We asked to be moved as air con is priority for us when booking hotels. After the 2nd night a room on the 4th floor became available and this was lovely, great sea view and cool. The swimming pool did not look very inviting (unsure if it was open). The tables, chairs and sunbeds on the lawn pictured on the website were not present, only sunbeds stacked up on the side and at a cost of €10 per day with a complimentary drink – bit cheeky expecting hotel guests to pay. Summary: After the fiasco with the rooms / time wasting, we enjoyed our stay, unsure if we would return or recommend unless booking into a room on 4th floor facing the sea.

We stayed here for one night only before we moved into an Air BNB villa. We were asked to pay for the room on arrival when in fact we had already paid for it. Now we were offered a sea view for an additional 40 euros per night , however as we were only staying for one night we declined. The reception staff were not the most welcoming. Our room was on the first floor at the back of the hotel, we had a view of the road, the swimming pool and the castle (photos loaded), there was a dirty water outlet running down the side of the hotel. The room was comfortable but tired, the bathroom had definitely seen better days. One bonus was the room was really well sound proofed so you couldn’t hear the road. Breakfast was average to poor. To be honest I was glad that we were only staying one night.
