“Great place to go”
I have stayed at the Surf Mar on many occasions. The staff in reception welcome you with a smile and are very helpful throughout the stay. I have stayed at the Surf Mar on many occasions. The staff in reception welcome you with a smile and are very helpful throughout the stay. The hotel is situated in a bay and is close to all amenities. The restaurant is very spacious with a variety of food to suit all tastes ,Fresh meat and fish are cooked in the restaurant by lovely chefs. The polite and helpful staff clear your tables as soon as you have finished. Moving into the bar where there is entertainment throughout the day. This is managed by the very pleasant bar manager Rubin who has some excellent staff working very hard.... BUT the member of staff that exceeds all expectations of entertainment is Jordi... Where does he get his energy from???? He works extremely hard and is so good at what her does, from running aerobics, to board games. rifle shooting, line dancing and has such a wonderful persona. Always has a smile and interacts with all ages in the most professional way. He works endlessly keeping the public happy. Jordi is loved by all who have the pleasure to know him. Had a fantastic Karaoke night. Jordi never change,,,,

“Just not for us!”
Not a nice greeting from reception… I need confirmation that you have booked here! You must send me the email! Anyway…. After overcoming that lovely welcome we went to our room… Hardly 4 stars! Room 445 was located next to the lift and after many tries to open the door ..my Husband went back down … more
Not a nice greeting from reception… I need confirmation that you have booked here! You must send me the email! Anyway…. After overcoming that lovely welcome we went to our room… Hardly 4 stars! Room 445 was located next to the lift and after many tries to open the door ..my Husband went back down to reception and was told …you need to be quick putting the card in! Luckily the cleaning lady Ruchi was there & showed us how to open the door. After gaining entry we were very disappointed by the room… so many marks on the walls.. and to top it off … a bath with a shower over! Cracked tiles & black grout & rust marks. The smell of urine was terrible! We decided to ask at reception for a room with a shower but we’re told… ask in the morning.. we are very busy! Did not even look on the computer let alone care. Off we went to have a look around and have a drink…. The all inclusive cocktail menu is a joke! It comes out of a machine and tastes awful.. no fruit on it .. just a straw! The beer was nice and very welcome! The bar staff are very friendly and try their best to make you feel welcome, but no one could have prepared us for the amount of dogs in prams and the noise…… We are dog lovers and have 2 of our own but never seen anything like this. The food in the restaurant at night was good with a very wide choice but not very warm, there is a microwave should you choose to heat it up. The breakfast had the worst bacon we have ever eaten… and the beans were really cold! Oh well… toast and continental will suffice. We returned to our room to find it had been cleaned by Ruchi who saw us and asked if everything was ok when we said about the smell of urine she said Yes I know… it’s better now.. and it was! So we decided to stay in that room and not bother asking at reception. The room continued to be as clean as was possible and we were always asked if we needed anything so we were pleased with Ruchi. I do have to mention the hard working restaurant staff too and a lovely lady called Gemma pointed us in the right direction of many things that we couldn’t find at first, the man called Segu who filled up all the trays of food was really friendly and always had a smile on his face… which means a lot and is so nice to see. The pool area was nice with loads of sun beds always available, and the tables were always cleared. Before you book at this hotel… if you like it quiet … this is not the place for you.. I don’t think they have ever heard of soft door closures, and you can actually hear the people in the bathroom next door through the walls! When they go to the toilet.. you know! All in all… it’s not the hotel for us and I know I booked a budget room.. but 4 stars! Really!
