“Nice friendly hotel”
Stayed here for 4 nights. clean and comfortable hotel. Food was good and plenty of choices. Would definately stay here again. The beach is less than 5 minutes walk away and shops only 2 min walk away. Lots of restaurant nearby too. Good for families or for couples.

About 8 or 9 years ago we travelled by motorcycle to Lloret de Mar and, worried that we had no idea where to stay, we booked a hotel on the basis of a tourist board review. We weren't at all keen on our choice after having been there for a couple of days and we decided to look at the hotels along the seafront. The Hotel Athene wasn't open but we had an escorted tour of one of the bedrooms in the sister hotel (this was also closed) by one of the hotel employees getting the hotels ready for opening - a very nice room. On our May 2012 motorcycle trip, we decided to not book a hotel in Lloret de Mar, just turn up. Well, Lloret hadn't changed much, more buildings and roads but there was now a one way system of roads down near the sea. We found the Hotel Athene - it was closed, again! The sister hotel was gutted and being completely refurbished so we decided to see what the Athene Neos was like. Not many guests but the room was on the opposite side to the building works and very clean and big enough for the two of us and all our motorcycle gear. We parked the motorcycle for free outside the Athene on the seafront - dedicated m/c and scooter spaces. If you go by car you will have to park in the pay-car park opposite the Athene - loads of spaces (in May) but expensive. Breakfast was included in the room rate but the evening meal was 8.50 Euros each. Both meals were all you can eat buffet style with the menu changing daily. The breakfast would suit anyone - eggs, bacon, juice, coffee, tea, cereals, yogurt, etc., etc. The evening meal came with carafes of water (cold, either fizzy or still) and red, rose or white wines - help yourself. The evening buffet may not suit everyone and the advice of the waiting staff can be taken, by looking at the food displayed before deciding whether to pay to eat there (or not). The chef was a marvel - how he prepared some of the dishes and the sauces on the budget he was probably allowed, we couldn't work out, delicious. The room was cleaned every day and there was plenty of hot and cold water, a small balcony (overlooking a block of flats and a cliff face) with a table and two chairs. The staff were knowledgeable about the area, were very friendly and helpful and spoke very good english. There is a lift but it is a bit on the small size. We had no complaints but there were a lot of signs telling you (in several languages) what was not allowed - henna tattoos (any staining the bedlinen would have to be paid for) and no taking food out of the restaurant, etc., etc. I suppose this is what you have to put up with in a budget hotel, which this is. The location was good for the beach and the touristy shops and cafes at that end of the town. The coastal path to Tossa de Mar is a short walk but the bus station and main shopping area is a good walk . There was a lot of building activity - hotels, houses and roads - in between the hotel and the main town. There are a lot of cafes and restaurants within a few minutes walk. We would definitely recommend this hotel to couples and groups but we don't think that it is lively enough for families - the pool was closed and there was no entertainment. There was a group of around half a dozen lads on a stag weekend but they were very quiet (slept nearly all day after drinking all night) and no trouble or swearing - they must have been shown the "not allowed notices" posted everywhere! A very good value for money holiday stay at the seaside.

Stayed here as a couple it was basic and clean .Breakfast buffet was good with friendly staff. The room itself was small with a very small balcony but with all important air con . The plunge pool on the roof was adequate with very few guests using it. The rooms were cleaned daily . It was noisy at times with the corridor flooring not helping reduce the sound. The best feature of the hotel is definitely location which is a 2 minute walk from the beach . Also a short walk to the centre. All in all if it's location that's important you can't go wrong if you are on a budget.

Stayed in june 2013. The hotel was in a great location, we even had a seaview although that would only be available to a view rooms. Its only one street back from the seafront and close to the far left end of the beach so away from all the noisy clubbers and lager louts. The area round the hotel by contrast is very civilised/ quiet. Its close to some nice beach bars tucked up the end with great terraces to sit and have a sunset cocktail or dinner. The rooms were of a good size, very standard furnishing but fine for our needs. It had aircon, there was some free soap and a fridge in the room. No safe that I could see. The staff were helpful enough. The hotel is fairly anonymous/ franchaise like, no cosy family welcome if thats what you are looking for but fine none the less. I havent stayed in any other hotel in llorett so I can't say whether is was above or below the general standard. The only downsides might be that the breakfast although quite extensive suffers from fairly mediocre ingredients, most of the pastries seemed to de mass market prepacked stuff rather than fresh which was a bit dissapointing. weak machine orange etc. There are sunbeds on the roof and a small splash pool, ok for cooling down but I was a bit miss led thinking the picture showed the edge of a larger pool. This was compounded by the fact that there is a very big pool connected to the next door hotel but appears to belong to the Ateneo when you arrive. The staff quickly put me right. Would stay again for its value for money/location
