Fantastic hotel, very clean modern and great staff. Great location just round the corner from the beach. Lovely food , especially the wonderful oranges at breakfast time. “Amazing hotel, food and staff”

This has to be one of the best holidays we have ever had. We came to this hotel for Christmas and New Year. This was the first time we had spent this time of year away from home. This has to be one of the best holidays we have ever had. We came to this hotel for Christmas and New Year. This was the first time we had spent this time of year away from home. The room was lovely, staff absolutely amazing and the food was out of this world. The best of Spanish cuisine. I do not understand those who complain about the food because if you dislike the Spanish offerings, there were the British staples there too- eggs, bacon, baked n beans etc, but why go here if you want British? We attended both the Christmas Eve dinner which offered the best of Spanish Seafood including beautiful Queen Scallops, etc etc, and the New Year Dinner - seven wonderful courses and drinks to go with everything, with silver service. The staff were all amazing but a special mention to Sonia who looked after us so well at mealtimes. Great location near the beach and in the old town, giving access to the Spanish side of town, but near enough to the new town if you preferred the more tourist places. I would highly recommend this hotel and for sure we will be back!!!

We arrived at the Hotel Mercure Benidorm on 17th December for a ten day stay and were immediately impressed with the entrance, reception and general areas which were classy with upmarket decor. Our standard room on the fourth floor was suitable and the balcony overlooked the gorgeous pool area which was a green oasis in a high rise area. After a great start unfortunately my husband became very ill and was admitted to the general hospital in Benidorm. I was alone and struggling with the language barrier in the Spanish hospital and if it wasn't for the help of Carlos the Reception Manager and his great staff who all spoke English and helped me deal with all the necessary paperwork on line, I don't think I could have coped. Happily my husband was fit to fly home although we had missed our return flight but Carlos helped me rebook flights home which I couldn't manage on my old mobile phone! Although our holiday turned out to be an unexpected bad hospital experience, now we are safely home we can't thank Carlos and his staff enough,enabling us to book all that was required to fly home. The hotel is gorgeous and definitely worth recommending. Wilma and Steve from Dorset

Was a bit worried after reading some of the reviews, but I need not have been. This hotel is perfectly situated for the nicer end of Benidorm, 5 minutes from the beach and 5-10 minutes to the old town. The grounds are immaculate and look very high end, nice comfy pool loungers, I wonder during the season if there is enough to go around as there isn’t many of them. The pools not heated, which is a shame as I would have loved a winter dip. Food, buffet style, and this morning we were serenaded at breakfast with a guitarist. Very nice quality and lots of choice - u can tell this is a high end chain. I have been slightly put off by the lack of solo dining spaces, it’s very much catering for couples - all they need is a few more small tables in less busy areas and it would be perfect. My room is slightly upgraded to their ‘privilege’ class, well worth it in my opinion for the extras including a Nespresso machine, robes, more space and nicer view. I’m here on my own so this doesn’t apply to me, but one thing to note which I have experienced so many times in these higher end chains - the room is completely open plan, including the shower and toilet, so there is no privacy whatsoever which might be a problem if you prefer to do your ablutions in private. The only point to note has been the staff, they haven’t been particularly friendly in fact I was left standing like a spare part at reception for around 20 minutes whilst they ignored me instead of checking me in. I don’t think I’ve seen a smile on one of them yet, a real shame and something to work on perhaps.
