We enjoyed a lovely stay at Hotel Bernat. The location was only minutes away from the beach and shops and restaurants. Calella is a lovely town and with the railway passing through, it’s a great location to hop on and get to Barcelona. The hotel rooms were quite small but clean and our balcony overlooked flats and streets. This wasn’t a problem to us as we were usually out and about. For people who like to sit on the balcony, perhaps a pool view would have been better. The restaurant staff were so lovely! The head waiter was great and the waiting staff responded well with pleasant chit chat! The meals were good with a fine selection. Sometimes meals were not always labelled so could have been difficult for people with specific eating needs but we were fine and like to try different dishes. Most of the reception staff were friendly and helpful. The pool was quite small but adequate for our needs and plenty of for room to sit around if that’s what you like to do. The hotel is often catering for groups of young teenage guests who are sports groups. Unfortunately, these guests did not seem to know how to behave around the hotel! Trying to get into the dining room in the evening was a challenge as the ill-mannered guests would push in and run to the food. They were extremely rude to staff and guests. There were several groups from a variety of nationalities. Although the hotel can’t be responsible for bad behaviour from teenagers, I do feel the hotel should note this and ensure a reasonable Code of Conduct is acceptable from all guests. Speaking to the teachers/tutors in charge would be expected. Perhaps allowing the large group guests into the dining hall at 8:00 instead of of 7:30 would be helpful to elevate frustration from holiday guests. Apart from this, our holiday was very enjoyable and would recommend! Thank you!

Had a really happy stay as family of 6 with teenage children. Rooms are functional and kept immaculately clean as are all communal loos and bar areas. Nice bathrooms with loads of hot water and good showers. Air conditioning was good. Balconies overlook pool and we had rooms together which made it easy for us to socialise and arrange meeting up. Food was of good standard but a little repetitive as you kind of expect with buffet type meals when staying anywhere for more than a couple of days. The basics of pasta, salad, bread, cheese and cold meats always being available meant that all of us could always find something we liked. There was a variety of meat (usually chicken) and fish available too. One night we had Chinese themed food. The staff in the restaurtant work tirelessly and sometimes seemed overstretched. The staff on reception were helpful and friendly. Beach towels can be replaced every day free of charge. The pool is quite small and overlooked but fine for a splash about in the afternoon. Good atmosphere generally and no fighting over sunbeds. Fantastic location. 5 minutes from beach. supermarkets and restaurants. Sunbeds for beach can be booked at reception. You can order a packed lunch from reception if you are planning on being out for the day if you have paid full board. We got sandwiches, fruit, yoghurt and water which obviously avoided having to buy lunch out. There was entertainment in the evening for kids and a kids club but we didnt use that. Prices at the bar reasonable. Recommend the nearby Italian restaurant if you fancy a meal out.

The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable enough. The pool area is small but the pool is fine and clean. There were always enough sunbeds. The bar is fine but the staff was not happy to deliver many cocktails. The location is great with a lot of restaurants and at least two supermarkets close by. There is about three minutes walk to the beach. We went half-board. There was no problem selecting if we wanted to have lunch or dinner but you need to notify the reception. The food is what is expected in hotels in Spain, uninteresting unseasoned well done meat without any gravy and selection of seafood, so it got boring very fast. Half-board does not cover any drinks, not even water. Everything was fresh and they have a great selection of fresh salad. Some guests I know went full-board and regretted it since it is a nice change eating out once and a while. Breakfast is good, but the chef usually could not cope with the eggs and the bacon is not what you would expect in northern Europe. The reception staff was helpful. They have a lot of activities like mini discos and shows for kids in the evening. Overall a good experience and I would stay there again.
