We went as a family of 9 including my 6 and 2 year old. Firstly the hotel is spotlessly clean and the rooms were adequate. We were provided on request, a kettle and cot free of charge. We found the food to be plentiful and a good variety especially as a few of us are vegetarians, there was always a few options. Yes the water is 2.50 euro for a large bottle in the restaurant but hardly breaks the bank. We very much enjoyed our cocktails/drinks by the pool served by the very best and our favourite hotel staff Ivona 🙂 Both pools (one being the kids pool) are small but big enough to enjoy and relax around. Buses and trains are close by too. We really couldn’t fault this hotel the only thing I will say is the area is a bit rundown but didn’t impact our holiday or time at the beach. Would have loved some evening entertainment but my fault as I didn’t realise when I booked, evening entertainment didn’t start until June time. We did visit various bars in the local area which were pleasant. In regard to the beach we never used the loungers as preferred to sit on a beach mat further along. The beach is also a 5 minute walk away past a supermarket and a couple of beach/ convenient shops. All in all we loved our time away. It was relaxing and the sun was shining!

We have just returned from our first family holiday abroad (having travelled alot pre kids) and stayed at the hotel bernat. It is an amazing hotel! The whole hotel is spotless and modern. Our room was perfect with 2 x double beds and balcony overlooking the pool. All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially the young male waiter who was there most days and one of the restaurant hosts (male, curly hair!). The cleaners do a great job freshening up the rooms everyday and the reception staff were always happy to help. I used the spa once which was lovely. This was our first holiday with food included so I have no base for comparison, but we thought it was fantastic! Lots of variety, fresh, yummy! All the restaurant staff work so hard and it's a lovely place to eat. They made us a free packed lunch and breakfast a few times during the week when we were out for the day/catching an early flight home which we really appreciated. The swimming pool was perfect for us, the boys spent most of the time in the smaller kids pool. Location is great, just a couple minutes walk from the beach and a short walk from the town centre, both of which were lovely! Calella is well connected, and we took the train direct to both Barcelona and Girona for day trips which were brilliant. There is a land train which goes around Calella and stops right outside the hotel which the boys loved. We couldn't have asked for more for our first family holiday - thank you hotel bernat!

Stayed at Bernat II for a week in May and, once again, had a very enjoyable holiday. This was my second time staying here. There are so many positives about this hotel. We booked full-board (as had two elderly relatives with us) and found it fantastic value for money. For the price we paid, the food is excellent - breakfast, lunch and dinner are all self-service buffet meals with a huge selection of food, nicely presented. Something for everyone! Live cooking station each day with fish/meat/omelettes freshly cooked. Location is excellent - less than 5 mins walk from the beach and the town centre. Lots of little bars, restaurants and shops nearby. A big Mercadona just around the corner. Bus to/from Barcelona, as well as up the coast directly behind the hotel. Drops you right in the centre of the city a few mins walk from Plaza de Catalunya. Room was spotlessly clean, modern and comfortable with a balcony. We were on the top floor and had a partial sea-view. Two large double beds in each room. Room cleaned daily and fresh towels supplied. Beach towels are provided free of charge at reception. Service is excellent which seems to come from the top down. Management were kind enough to offer a voucher last time when we had to cancel due to a family bereavement, for which we are very grateful. Thanks to Lydia for her kindness and help with the booking. Overall, we had an excellent stay and cannot find fault with this hotel! Thanks to all at Bernat II from Ireland!

I read so many reviews of this lovely hotel,don’t be put off by the negative ones ! The hotel is spotless and very well run,the staff are super friendly and can’t do enough for you. The food is very good and there is lots Of choice for everyone,lovely fresh salads choices of meats and seafood dishes. Drinks are very reasonably priced and served in a lovely lounge area. We also used the spa which is a lovely Little hidden treat. Beach is a short walk away as are the restaurants and bars in the village. Yes there are buildings around the hotel that aren’t polished but the hotel is fab.
