Lovely little family owned Hostal. Rooms and public areas are very clean. Well done housekeeping! Room was cleaned daily with fresh towels as required. Lovely little family owned Hostal. Rooms and public areas are very clean. Well done housekeeping! Room was cleaned daily with fresh towels as required. Room is small, but all you need if you are just looking for a base to stay. Only issue is the stairs to bedrooms could do with more lighting. Staff were frinedly and helpful. 24 hour bar is great! Hostal is situated close to the beach and the town of Callela and the train station is a short walk away. Breakfast is continental, always fresh with plenty to choose from.

The staff at the hotel were brilliant. They welcomed us, helped us and made us feel very comfortable. They showed interest in our activities and stay and offered great advice and helpful information. They sorted us out with an easy return bus journey from Calella to the airport in Barcelona when our bus company let us down at the last minute. The beds were comfy and we had a great patio area which was really useful for us as we had our competition racing bike with us for the Ironman. The breakfast was good and they even prepared it for us at 5:30am on the morning of our competition. The staff are available 24 hours to help.

We got dropped off on the main road (N11) and almost had to find our own way to the hotel (at midnight), not the fault of the hotel in any way, but we thought it was a bad sign - not so, we couldn't have been more wrong. When we found the hotel, we were greeted in a friendly way and given our room, unfortunately on the third floor (no lift) but when we got there it was a pleasant surprise. A small, but VERY clean room with a balcony over the street, an ensuite bathroom and separate toilet and air conditioning (room 304). We had a good nights' sleep and went for breakfast, not expecting a feast for four euros, again, very pleasantly surprised, a choice of two cereals, yogurt and fruit juices. The croissants, pain au chocolate and bread rolls. Cheese, salami and ham and boiled eggs. Also of course, tea / coffee / chocolate. This was all topped up very quickly and all was again very clean. ALL the staff were helpful and pleasant. The bus stop for Barcelona was about 2 minutes walk and the railway station and town about 10 minutes. Just down the road to the sea opposite is a lovely restaurant 'Cafe Austria' and we also found a good bar for tapas just round the corner, turn left out of the hotel, then first right and about a minute walk. Also just opposite the Consum supermarket a small corner bar - bot do good Tapas. We would not hesitate to go back again.

This is not a hotel, but as the sign outside proclaims Hostal Bonavista. Although the rooms had everything needed for a couple of nights, a weeks stay showed the difference between a Hostal and a Hotel. The rooms were very dark as were the stairs, ideally we should have brought a torch to find the keyhole to our door. There is only 2 sockets in the room, they are both located on the centre of the bedhead. There is a further socket in the bathroom. The balcony is very small and not suited for sitting out on. If you are a smoker there is ONE ashtray in the place, that is by the front door. Breakfasts were good but we did miss the opportunity to make tea or coffee in the room. There is a lounge but again if you want to sit and read take a head torch with you.
