We recently had our son and daughter-in-law’s wedding at Isla Verde Courtyard. We can’t say enough great things about our experience, especially thanks to Juan, the event and catering manager. From the very first time we met Juan months before the wedding, when he hosted us during our venue search, he was friendly, insightful, and very proactive. He was just as amazing throughout every communication before the wedding, during our stay, and even after the big day! Juan went above and beyond in so many ways. He didn’t just help us plan and pull off the perfect wedding—he made our daughter-in-law feel incredibly special. Whether it was buying her coffee when they bumped into each other in the lobby or giving our entire family a personal tour of the wedding day plans, Juan was always there to make sure everything was just right. He even did a second tour the next day when our photographer arrived, making sure everything was ready to go. The wedding itself was flawless, and I credit Juan’s dedication, expertise, and his calm yet fun demeanor for making it so! Even with a hurricane on the horizon, we felt completely at ease knowing we were in good hands! The catering staff at both the welcome dinner and the reception were phenomenal, and Juan’s presence at each event—though not required—was a true testament to his commitment to ensuring everything went smoothly. Our son and daughter-in-law’s wedding couldn’t have been more perfect, and a huge part of that is thanks to Juan. If you’re planning an event in Puerto Rico, I highly recommend Isla Verde and working with Juan - he’s absolutely the best! As a side note - the airport is very close, yet we did not hear planes overhead whatsoever!

This is a wonderful hotel, so close to the airport but not bothered by noise, right on the beach, food is great (love the rice & beans), multiple pools (and one of the pools is heated, which is in addition to a regular sized hot tub), and there's a small-ish casino. If you opt for the two-room suite, there is a pull-out sofa in the "living room" which is nice if you have a child or two (one funny thing, though, in the only bathroom in the two-room suite the shower was very small!). I do wish I had known this time that there is major construction in the lobby -- it was a surprise to walk into the hotel and not be able to hear each other speak due to the noise! But it didn't affect our stay. I just always think it's better not to be surprised, but I can understand why hotels don't want to reveal things like construction when you're booking a room. One thing to note -- the waves were pretty fierce -- but we were there only two days after Tropical Storm Ernesto had left Puerto Rico, so that may have been the reason. (On our prior trips, the waves weren't so strong.) We stayed in Room 1221, which was on the west side of the hotel, and it was very nice. In the pool area where you pick up towels, there were cans of bug spray you could use on yourself. The "no-see-'ums" and mosquitoes made themselves known, both at the hotel and in Old San Juan. It's just something to be aware of. The staff was lovely -- everyone was very helpful and everyone had a smile!

First arriving at the hotel was nice. Had a musty smell, but we look past it being excited to be there. Once we went up to our room on the fourth floor. The smell was so strong must and mold that we immediately called to change our room. they kindly changed our room immediately, and the room on a higher floor smelt a lot better. but I believe that is because the AC was running and would not shut off the entire trip. The best part of the hotel is how close it is to the beach as soon as you walk out it is right there which is a plus also, the pool is open 24 hours so you can go there anytime of the night. breakfast outside by the beach was very nice. and the casino was a plus I won $300. we did rent a car and we were given an access card that failed to work almost anytime we tried to leave, which was a major inconvenience. holding up a line of cars every time we try to leave. my only major concern is after getting home my legs and feet were itching so i uncontrollably I couldn’t take it anymore and I have bug bites all over my feet and legs. This is my second time in Puerto Rico and I do love it here, but I must say I expected better. I have no complaints about anyone that works there. Everybody was very nice. I don’t like to give a bad reviews but I have to be honest.

Decided to give this hotel another try. After the horrible experience in July 2022. We haven’t gone back. Decided to book a room with two beds since I was traveling last minute. But because I left the guest total as one, the front desk took the liberty to change my room to a king and not say a word to me? Honestly I never change the guest total and never been question or had any issue. She suddenly notice I was not alone and change it for the 2 beds room. She was polite and very friendly. So I give her credit for fixing it on the spot. We use to like this hotel because it close to the airport and pool is nice. Don’t expect too much. Is still outdated and area so of clean. At least my room was clean this time and didn’t have a funky smell. I am not that far in becoming a lifetime platinum elite member, so I expect for all Marriott hotels to be the best’s.
