All in a very relaxing stay. Food G to VG rooms VG. Amenities above most other hotels. lovely gardens. Great pools. Local bus service every 10 mins to town No 01 and 02.From directly outside hotel. 2 euro on bus or 1,30 by buying a range of multi journeys.If the bus is full just wait a few minuite… more

Local bus service every 10 mins to town No 01 and 02.From directly outside hotel. 2 euro on bus or 1,30 by buying a range of multi journeys.If the bus is full just wait a few minuites and there will be another along shortly. Also a No 34 ? cannot remember the exact number, up to Monte Village. Saving zillions of euros on the cable car price

This was our first couples visit to Madeira and our first experience at a local hotel. Porto Mare has great facilities and the staff are very helpful and obliging. The only things we could suggest an improvement on are the breakfast, the room facilities, and the pool: 1. Breakfast: we were quite disappointed in the quality of the offering. The bacon was ultra-processed (you can’t really tell what it’s made from) and most of the remaining meats were equally processed. 2. The room was large but slightly dated and the electrical facility was not well thought out at all for the modern requirements. Even though there were two USB outlets under the TV, it was a challenge to get our devices charged up overnight without unplugging some of the existing appliances. 3. The main pool temperature was quite cold. We are used to an offering of various pools at varying temperatures, and although we are conscious that this may not be possible in a scenario where there is only one pool, it would have been a positive feature. It would probably draw more people to the hotel and get them to enjoy the pool area for lengthier periods. I only saw about 5 people dip during our stay, which is sad. Otherwise, all good. We would probably stay here again if we didn’t find a better alternative.

“Very expensive in resort”

I recently spent a week at this hotel. The complex was excellent 3 outdoor pools 2 indoor on of which linked through a glass tunnel to a small outside pool. I recently spent a week at this hotel. The complex was excellent 3 outdoor pools 2 indoor on of which linked through a glass tunnel to a small outside pool. Excellent gardens surrounding the pools plus a wonderful orchid garden. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly. There were 2 excellent bars with good nightly entertainment in both. A good selection of entertainment to suite all tastes. The only downside was the prices of food and alcohol within the complex which was very expensive. Around 30% more than you would find in close proximity to the hotel. We really enjoyed our week there and will return. However, we will use the restaurants/bars outside the hotel, which are excellent.
