My partner and I have just returned from a week stay here, it was our first time on the island so we had no idea what to expect but honestly this was amazing! From the moment we arrived everyone was so friendly and made us feel incredibly welcome. Our room was fantastic, we especially liked the fact it had a living area and bedroom separate as it gave us so much more space, huge balcony too. We stayed in the 8th floor so got amazing views both sea view and over the pool. Our room was cleaned everyday and fresh towels provided as long as you put them in the bath, as well as everything in provided in the room (coffee and shower gels etc.) being topped up. It was our first time being all inclusive but we were honestly blown away by the food and the drinks options available. They do advertise a package when you first arrive for premium all inclusive for around 20 euros a day, but honestly I don’t think there’s any need to get this unless you like branded drinks. All the regular drinks are available normally and the cocktail menu is huge and each one delicious. We really enjoyed the food at the hotel, breakfast was more or less the same each day but lovely and from 11am onwards there’s always snacks available at the pool bar. They do serve lunch outside yet we found this fitted us perfectly, especially when chilling round the pools as we’d just pop down and get fresh omelettes, wraps and burgers made for us. Our favourite evening was the traditional bbq! Around the pool there’s always sunbeds free no matter what time of the day you go, we never had any trouble getting any or even the beds they had by the adult pool. We were given a card for pool towels which you handed in then gave back when you were finished for the day, so no need to bring your own! If you’re looking to do an excursion, I’d highly recommend the Saturday morning jeep safari, our tour guide dino was exceptional, he answered every question asked and took us to amazing places we wouldn’t have visited otherwise and he made us laugh so much too! We did visit Funchal one day, using bolt it costed around €5 each way and was so easy to do rather than get ripped off by other taxis. Overall, we genuinely couldn’t have had a better holiday, everything about this was exceptional! Would defo come back and reccomend to family and friends.

We went for a short break, the hotel is okay. Approx 10 minutes bus ride from the centre of Fenals but with pleynty of bars and reseraunts close by. We went for a short break, the hotel is okay. Approx 10 minutes bus ride from the centre of Fenals but with pleynty of bars and reseraunts close by. Rooms are all suite type with a seperate living room. They are a touch basic but comfortable. there are 2 lifts and we never waited long for one. The best part of this hotel is its pool spaces. there are 2, a genral area and an adults only pool. both have plenty of sunbeds and parasols and are kept clean and tidy. A nice touch are the Bali beds around both. Kids can take balls and inflatables into the pool. There is a bar located between the pools and the service was good. Be aware that there is currently building work being carried out on two sides of the hotel, it can get a bit noisy but this isnt the hotels fault. Food is okay, we were AI because the price difference was negligable. The buffet for breakfast is dissapointing, the bacon on offer isnt real bacon and the sasuages small frankfurter types. Lunch is served around the pool and is a very basic small buffet. Dinner is again in the main dining room and has a small choice, normally 2 meat dishes with one or two fish dishes and a pasta dish to choose from. There is a basic salad bar and soup. Desserts are very good though and always ice cream. Twice a week there is a limited BBQ around the pool with entertainment. We were there for 5 nights, I think if it had been longer we woulfd have got bored of the offerings. The staff are all great, check in was easy and reception staff very helpfull. This was the norm with everyone. There were a couple of instances where the buffet was a little short staffed with waiters rushing around but that was it. There are 2 bars in the evening, one with a small outside terrace. Drinks are okay but if you are AI the cocktails are premixed and too sweet. There is a small spa, my othere half had a massage which she said was fantastic and the prices are very reasonable. Hotel Girrasol is good value for money, I would call it a traditional hotel with good facilities, especially the pool areas.

“Hotel Girassol review”

Hotel was clean and well organized. The food was good with the Buffet lunches by the pool a highlight. The Adults only pool was also a bonus. The location was good for the local amenities. The only negative was no Tea or Coffee supplied in the room.

Good hotel Some reception staff unfriendly and unhelpful It was a shame the air con broke half way through the week so 3 nights with none, hotel did not inform us, update us or advise when it would be fixed, they didn’t seem bothered.
