Just back from another stay here. Got to say it’s an excellent hotel for the price you pay. 100 odd euros a night and you get a spotless room, great shower, comfy bed, choice of pillows. Just back from another stay here. Got to say it’s an excellent hotel for the price you pay. 100 odd euros a night and you get a spotless room, great shower, comfy bed, choice of pillows. Not forgetting the free breakfast. (My wife loves this and the choice. But I wish they would improve the bacon and sausages) Also a decent Spar and pool area. The rooftop bar is excellent to chill and have a few drinks. Wish it stayed open later. The bar downstairs shows major football matches as well. Room service is very reasonable priced and good quality. I love the burgers, club sandwich and steak roll. One last mention. We stayed in room 201 mid November and the cleaner was exceptional. Friendly and our room was immaculate.

“Great Hotel in a spectacular location”

Our second visit to this hotel in the first week of December. Our room was on the 10th floor overlooking the ocean, fantastic views of the Xmas decorations. Our second visit to this hotel in the first week of December. Our room was on the 10th floor overlooking the ocean, fantastic views of the Xmas decorations. The room was functional and clean made so much better adding a drawer unit!! Breakfast was 1st class, fresh fruit, freshly cooked eggs by the chef. Keep it up Allegro, we will see you another time.

“Good base, nice breakfast”

We stayed for nine days and had a seaview on the ninth floor. We were aware of building construction that was occurring over the street, and okay it was a bit noisy (we were aware of it when booking) with a bitter clanking, but the most noise came from nearby yapping dog. The location is in the Lido area, which is about 2 km from the centre of Funchal. Typically, we walked into Funchal whenever we needed to, as didn’t mind the walk. There is also a nice walk along the seafront heading west. There was a large supermarket nearby which was much cheaper than the local Spar markets. There was one main lift and a service lift which was available during the evening only. Our room had a sea view.. which we appreciated, and also went to the bar to watch the sunset on clear evenings. The rooms was small, but practical. Things worked… however the shower had that temperamental setting being too cold and too hot, so took a bit of trial and error to get the temp right. TV was ok, and had European channels (Italian ones didn’t work though). Breakfast was really good… good spread of smoothies, yoghurts, cakes, bread, hot food… the coffee machines were not great, and never had a good coffee in the room or at breakfast ( so recommend to bring your own - I had limited supplies). Throughout the staff were very approachable. The rooms comes provided with towels for the pool… which we used a couple of afternoons. Bed was ok… I was not having the most comfortable of nights but it was adequate for me, my wife loved the bed. Overall really enjoyed the stay.
