Staff were excellent & helpful with majority of staff able to speak English.We had breakfast which was plentiful usual bacon, eggs, sausage & unfortunately only once or twice tomato’s which is my preferred instead if beans. Wifi not a 100%.Happy hour 6-7 with 25% off cocktails.Snacks not bad with a small poolside menu.Plenty of beds & towels supplied for pool in your room.Plenty of nightlife in Hotel but we chose to eat & drink out as not our first visit to Canico.Hop on Hotel bus which needs to be booked 48hrs in advance.Download Moveit & access local bus 155 to Funchal.For taxi download Bolt & book online similar to Uber so prices change.

“3rd year visiting!”

Just returned from 2 weeks here and our 3rd year of visiting. I want to begin my review with a massive thankyou to all staff who were involved when my husband collapsed in the dining room at breakfast, gashing his head and being unconscious for 2 minutes. To Sergio from reception who accompanied me to our room to help me in getting everything I needed from the safe (I was in a bit of a state and my hands were shaking) for a trip to hospital, to Ivone the manager for just being super efficient and calming me down and to whoever called the ambulance! Thankfully, all was OK. Anyway, back to the review - lunch is no longer served in the main restaurant but in the pool bar ordering from the menu. We have to say we preferred it this way. Everything that we ordered was freshly cooked and very tasty. We can highly recommend the chicken and prawn stir fry which was absolutely delicious. We never waited more than about 15 minutes for our food. Breakfast selection was plentiful and the addition of new, quicker coffee machines is an asset. Evening meal selection, this year, we found a little repetitive and we were disappointed that the outdoor barbecue on Madeiran evening did not take place this year as they were fantastic in past years. Staff though in the restaurant were efficient and friendly as always! The old pool guy is no longer there, replaced by several new staff. The cleaning regime for the pool and pool area has changed and takes place a lot later in the morning when several people are already on their loungers and the pool staff were very vigorous in their hosing of the floor areas so towels were getting wet. We experienced lovely weather while here but it can get very blustery at times so parasols are removed. Whilst we understand the need for safety, the removal of parasols in 30° heat is not great especially ually for guests with babies, small children or the elderly. Many people had to leave the pool area and go inside as, unfortunately, there are no shady areas. Maybe new, more heavy duty parasols could be invested in or some sort of area created that would provide shade. On a positive note, there is never the need to get up at stupid o'clock to get a sunbed as they are plentiful and you are able to get them at all times of the day. Evening entertainment was much better this year with much more variety which lovely - gutted we missed the Abba tribute which was on the day went home! Rooms are spacious and clean and thankyou for allowing us the same room as last year (432) with its wonderful views over the pool and the sea. All in all, we enjoyed our holiday (apart from the medical emergency bit!) and I can honestly say, it won't be our last visit.

“Bom Dia ”

This is a great hotel, sitting right on a walkable promenade with views out into the bay. Our room on the 5th floor was spacious, clean and comfortable. This is a great hotel, sitting right on a walkable promenade with views out into the bay. Our room on the 5th floor was spacious, clean and comfortable. Food choices were good at all meals.....the only negative was the lack of show cooking. The hotel had a nice, relaxed vibe, quiet with attentive staff. The courtesy bus to Funchal was great as was the local bus that stops outside.....this was an excellent hotel and a great holiday.

Spent 10 days here the hotel is clean and tidy and the room was large and spacious lovely walks along a path near the beach and the food was lovely and varied I did enjoy the tuna and spinach lasagne it was delicious. The restaurant manager was lovely and was always looking after guests needs and was very welcoming the staff all work very hard to make sure the guests are happy and have everything you need Madiera is beautiful and the people are very welcoming would definitely return for another holiday.
