“Lovely, clean hotel. Just the food that lets it down!”

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel rooms were clean, spacious and well equipped. The bed was huge and comfy, the balcony was a good size and we could see the sea, even after not booking a sea view room! The rooms were modern, had a fridge, microwave, hair dryer and basic equipment. The bottle of water left in the room on arrival was a nice touch. The hotel staff are fantastic - friendly, helpful and happy! On arrival we notified the reception staff that we needed the duck feathers in our pillows and duvet changed due to allergies. Even though we had arrived in the evening, the maid was in our room so quickly and changed these for us! We were so impressed! The pools are fab - outdoor one had plenty of sun beds, a pool bar and a spacious, clean area. The indoor pool was a great option when it rained! Both pools were rather cold, but we did go in October and you soon got used to it once you jump in!! Not sure why they waited until 4pm to start the music up by the pool (and played the same song on repeat!)…maybe it’s different in peak season. The main hotel is not as modern as the rooms, but we felt this gave it a ‘homely’ feel and liked it! The lounge/bar area was a nice place to relax and the bar staff were great. The only reason we can’t give 5 stars is because of the food. Breakfast was the same each morning, which consisted of: small Frankfurt sausages that tasted like they came out of a tin, bacon that had more fat on it than meat, soggy mushrooms, dried up baked beans, undercooked cubed potatoes and then a random pan of mixed veg! The fruit was left in bowls on the side and so was all warm. No yoghurts, limited cereal options. The pastries were average and didn’t vary much in choice. There was a good selection of cheese and cold meats, bread and jam. Coffee was nice but the fresh juices tasted like a vitamin drink - possibly watered down, but we tried all three and could only manage one sip!! On our last day, we grabbed lunch from the pool bar before our flight. I didn’t think you could go wrong with a toastie, but it was greasy and the chips were very average and tasteless! We are not at all fussy eaters and are usually easily pleased, but we were glad that we were only there for 3 nights, due to the food! Any more days and we’d have gone across the road to the cafe for breakfast! Overall, we found the hotel and all of the staff very nice and welcoming. However, unless the food improves significantly, we will not be returning.

“Nice Hotel a little bit way from Cascais centre”

While a little outside Cascais centre, Pestana is a very nice hotel to relax and enjoy the sunshine. The room had an unsavoury small on arrival which we were told was related to the sea tides. It did improve after a while. Beds were very comfortable. Staff were friendly and courteous. Breakfast buffet was good. The later you had breakfast, however, the stodgier the food became. Bar was ok but prices for some drinks was excessive (€14 for a brandy!) The pool is excellent with poolside service and also access to a gym and sauna (if you are not hot enough already!!) Because it is in a business area, there are not many other options to eat or drink in the immediate vicinity. However, Cascais is only a short Uber ride away.

“Needs a refurb”

We needed to be in this part of the city and chose the hotel on trip advisor reviews. Not too impressed. Seen better days! Room clean but old especially the bathroom. Breakfast very average for 4 star. It was iron man weekend and very busy. Would bit stay there again.
