We stayed for ten nights and found it to be a good value package tour hotel. The facilities were all available in November, often not the case in Iberia. All the staff were helpful, the one problem with the room was sorted immediately. There was a wide range of food available at breakfast and dinner and we always found something to enjoy. The location is brilliant for town and for bird watchers like us the salt pans are right on your doorstep.

“Well appointed Hotel in a Central Location”

Conveniently located in a central position in Tavira. Our room was comfortable and of a decent size and cleaned daily. We stayed bed and breakfast. Used the hotel bar only once as the drinks were pricey and was also little used by other guests.

We enjoyed our stay although not everything went well. Good points: a great sized room with a useful minibar. We were also asked when we checked in if we wanted a kettle, this was very welcome. Comfy beds and a sofa we could use too. Our room faced the river. There was a road in front but we never heard any noise at night and quite enjoyed sitting on the balcony with a cuppa watching the world go by. Bathroom was fine with a good shower and space to our our toiletries. . We had the breakfast buffet every day and thought the selection was great. The staff work very hard to clear tables so even though it could get very busy it always worked out OK. On our last night we had the buffet which we enjoyed. Negatives: as others have said, the bedside lights weren’t good enough to read in bed. Being asked to pay extra for the room safe was a bit odd too. And a simple hook on the wall for fleeces or coats would be very welcome. The pedestrian approach to the entrance could be better - it is up a cobbled slope and you are sharing the space with cars so not ideal if you are a bit less sure on your feet. The main lobby area was huge but completely soulless and with not enough places to sit. The bar area was big but didn’t have much atmosphere. And had a bad experience in the lift - I *think*I must have inadvertently failed to press the floor button but consequently the whole thing went dark with no emergency light or sensor light to show anything. I was stuck in it for maybe 30 seconds but it was not pleasant. I reported this to reception as I feel there needs to be some sort of light in this situation. So not perfect but at the price we got it we felt it was value for money and would go again. The hotel is in a great location next to the indoor market and a stone’s throw from the river. There is a small but good cafe opposite which we used and the centre of Tavira is 9nly a few minutes walk away. For those who like bird life it is an easy walk to the salt pans and down to quatra aguas.
