“3 night golf stay”
A nice hotel golf resort stay. We stayed for 3 nights and 3 rounds of golf, the course is well cared for and has some nice holes to it. The hotel is nice but the rooms don’t have a whole lot storage for suitcase, golf shoes, or travel bag. Breakfast was lovely and was a nice addition to the stay.

Comfy beds. Has a fridge, although ours alarmed one night ? Why. Nice coffee tea machine,but no milk. Food average,and service slow in grill restaurant. Buffet breakfast nice,but have to find waiters to bring tea,sometimes difficult,and no teaspoons. Asked us if we wanted water,and stated " we dont… more

Staff a bit stuffy, and not very happy , apart from Romeu in the small bar who was efficient, cheerful, and couldn't do enough to help us. Golf course great layout,and greens perfect even in very wet weather. Golf shop staff great.

This review is golf based only as I didn't stay in the hotel, although the flaking paintwork on the facade of the hotel gave the impression that things certainly need improvement, but onto the golf course. Its fair to say that I approached our visit to Penina with some concern having read numerous reviews stating that the course was in very poor condition, however I was pleasantly surprised to see lush green fairways and smooth true greens, it is true that Penina gets played an awful lot and you can certainly see signs of ware and tear around the fringes on the course but generally it was in good condition and we really enjoyed the day. So on conclusion not bad course hotel is slowly failing into a poor state money needed to be spent.
