My partner and I visited Ancora Park at the end of May and it is an absolutely amazing hotel. The pool is massive (Olympic sized!!) with lots of room around it - we never struggled to get a sun-bed no matter what time of day it was. It is very peaceful and relaxing, and even when the pool got ‘busy’, it really didn’t feel it as it was so big so you have so much space. Our room overlooked the pool, and it was just beautiful. Comfy beds and housekeeping did regular visits to keep it clean. The whole hotel was kept immaculately clean all week. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from Old Town where there is a great variety of shops, restaurants and bars... and most importantly, you are never far from an icecream shop!! We found ourselves in Beer and Co most evenings which was a great bar! Again, it’s about a 15 minute walk to the beach, and only 5-10 minutes to the local convenience shop. The only slight negative to this hotel would be that we were self catering, but had no appliances or cutlery so couldn’t actually self cater in our room. Secondly, when we needed a top up of sugar, (as my partner drinks coffee) the restaurant were very reluctant to give us any, and in fact didn’t give us some at all most days. Overall, we had a fantastic, much needed holiday at Ancora Park, and would highly recommend to anyone visiting Lagos. Great location, beautiful hotel & fantastic staff. We want to thank Ricardo, Philip, Mario, Olga and the young lady waitressing in the restaurant (so sorry we didn’t get your name), for being so friendly, welcoming and helpful. Ricardo helped us to book excursions which we had a great time on, and even remembered the morning of each excursion where we were heading to. Whenever we returned to the hotel, we were always warmly welcomed back, no matter what time it was. Thank you to everyone at Ancora Park for making our holiday so memorable and fantastic!

“Perfect stay ”

Wonderfully friendly hotel.. perfectly clean. High standard of furnishings. Pool area well equipped. 15 min walk into the centre. Super market 10 min walk. I would say the food and drinks were a little bit pricey at thr hotel. 3 beaches within walking distance. It's a little bit hilly.

This hotel can pride it self with a very nice staff. They where very friendly (like all portuguese people) and very helpfull. The hotel and the rooms are of high standard and clearly newly renovated. The pool is huge and has the clearest water I've seen. Plus for the huge beds beside the pool. We did not try the breakfast but had one pizza, it was avarage. They got happy hours in the bar on drinks and beers. Buy the beer, cause the drinks are not good. It is free parking for guests and they got good options for parking spaces. Check in and check out is an easy prosess and they show you the way to your room. Everything is very clean and is cared for around the clock. The hotel is located in a very peacefull area just outside of Lagos. It is a 15 minute walk to the old town/Marina of Lagos. If you want to stay in a hotel with people and life around you, this is not the hotel for you. If you prefer quiet evenings on the balcony or by the pool/bar, this hotel is the perfect choice.

On arrival we were impressed at how quiet and peaceful the pool area was,extremely relaxing in every way (especially the cabana beds) the hotel grounds were clean and very well kept, the hotel room was more than enough for us, both clean and comfortable with a lovely view/ balcony over looking the pool area, also very clean. We were certainly very happy. Some things that were disappointing…! The bar area did lack a bit of atmosphere, although relaxing is what you want from a holiday some music to go along with HAPPYHOUR would have been nice. Nothing blaring but something would have been good to give it some atmosphere, which leads me on to the main points. On day 2 I asked if it would be possible to have a couple of ice cubes to take to my room to have in my wine with the lunch I was preparing, (I had been given some on day 1) to be told by the bar man there was no ice, (which I thought was strange as we were coming to the lunch time happy hour period) this was at 12.40, I left it 20 minutes and asked at reception, they told me that they do not allow ice to be taken to the room and they are not allowed to give it away, I was only asking for 2 I said and I had been given some the day before, this should not of happened I was told in no uncertain terms, I was extremely disappointed and made that very clear. The room on arrival had 3 tea bag and some small packets of sugar along with the kettle, there was no coffee or milk, so we bought coffee and milk from the supermarket but forgot the sugar, so again I asked at reception if we could possibly have some sugar, to be told exactly the same as the ice cubes, they are not allowed to give it to the guests!!!!! They will only give you enough for the first day !! This really is bizarre to me and I have never ever come across this before, to me it felt like all they wanted was you to order coffee/drinks from them. We were more than happy to drink at the bar and have foods which we did for the first day, but really wanted to have a coffee on the beautiful balcony when we woke, this to me is very short sited and out of principle we didn’t buy food or drink from them again, this felt like penny pinching to the extreme. This is such a shame as I really did think they had so many things right and as a regular visitor to the algarve certainly have never experienced this before. Would I return I am still undecided, I would recommend this hotel, but don’t ask for ice or sugar😔
