We stayed self catering at Ancora Park, Lagos in Oct 24. We received a very warm welcome upon arrival. We stayed in one of the bungalows. The quality of the accommodation was excellent, recently refurbished to a very high standard. The shower was brilliant, the bedroom large with plenty of wardrobe space, and plug sockets in sensible places. The kitchenette was enough for us. It had a decent sized fridge, a hob with a couple of rings and a small combi microwave/oven. Outside a small courtyard area and a lovely roof terrace. Air con was good. The bungalow was exceptionally private. The rooms were cleaned 5 days a week to a very good standard. The pool area was clean and spacious with plenty of sunbeds - the pool is massive (but very cold). The pool bar had happy hour every day which was great. The bar staff were lovely. The location was perfect for us. It was about a 20 minute walk into Lagos Old Town. The beautiful scenic cliffs were 10 minutes walk away. There were a couple of supermarkets within a 10 minute walk. Ancora Park was a lovely place to stay. We would highly recommend it.

For a simple self catering break, this place is top class. Staying in the 1 bed bungalow/apartment, we found the accommodation both modern and practical for our needs. House keeping was above and beyond fresh towels when required and apartment was kept spotless. Bravo Ladies👏👏. We had a car, so getting around was a breeze. Supermarkets, eateries, Marina, cliff top walking all within 10 mins drive. Visit Sagres, Alvor for amazing walks and views. The attractions locally are great to- try the boardwalk that runs from the Marina, eastwards. Some of the nearby cliff tops are busy, so go early is our advice. Congrats to this Hotel Chain they have a real gem here. So impressed, we have booked already for next year.😎😎

“Review from stay at the Âncora Hotel”

Overall the stay was a 4 star hotel The twin room with a balcony and pool view was outstanding, the room was spacious. The supermarket is just a 5 minute walk. The reception staff are friendly however the housekeeping could be improved. Food was basic, we were happy to eat out in the old town.

Beautiful room and pool, helpful reception staff, however the restaurant was a massive let down. The staff in the restaurant were unpleasant and rude, and the food was dreadful. We arrived very late into the evening and the reception staff were welcoming and friendly from the start, explained everything about the hotel, and what was about in the surrounding area including local attractions that if booked through them at reception you were able to receive a discount. The room was held to an exceptional standard, and incredibly clean and fresh, rooms were cleaned 5 times a week and very respectful of personal belongings. The pool and surrounding area were also very clean and tidy, pool although cold was kept to a high standard and you can see them cleaning it each morning when required. Although we didn’t choose to, the option was there to hire a car, and no price difference for either automatic or manual. Lovely view from our bedroom of the pool area and had our very own little sun trap on our terrance. The only let down for us was the restaurant, buffet style with very very limited options, no consideration for those with dietary requirements, and very poor food and quality. Staff in the restaurant were rude and unpleasant, and were told the card machine wasn’t working when in fact the server did not want to turn the machine on for the day and only once we said we did not have the cash he decided to try the card machine, which did in fact work first time. Overall a lovely hotel, and definitely a place we would book again if we return to Lagos or surrounding area, definitely recommend to go self catering and not all inclusive.
