Just returned from a lovely 5 nights at Victor’s Village and I will say, this is a beautiful hotel complex. Everyone was so friendly and kind including the hotel and cleaning staff. We were lucky to be able to check in early because our room was ready which we were very grateful for. The breakfast had a great selection and lovely cocktails and pizzas from the bar. Ferragudo itself is cute but in some places, a little run down. It’s also very hilly! Be prepared for a good work out walking up the hills. If you have a child/children then you want a good travel pushchair to push on the rocky paths! Some of the paths are very narrow and you end up going into the road so sometimes you have to be very vigilant. This was our first time going abroad with my baby who is 9 month old and below I have noted some helpful bits of info if you’re travelling with a baby/toddler/children. Hotel amenities:- - The hotel has 3 pools including a shallow baby/toddler pool (we went in October and the pool water was VERY cold!) - The hotel has a small children’s room which has a TV, play blocks/a rocking horse/a toy sit on car/a dolls house /a toy kitchen etc (gets busy when it’s raining or in the evening) and small play area outside (including a small Wendy house, slide and seesaw). - There is a small games room including a snooker table, football table and air hockey - There’s also a ping pong table but I didn’t see anyone using it or if the paddles/balls were available. - Complementary bus which will take you to the Ferragudo town centre and then the 3 nearest beaches (departure and collection are set times). We never used it but nice option if you didn’t want to walk with the kids. - Lidl is an approx 20 minute walk and sell everything you’ll need including nappies /wipes/baby food etc. Standard one bedroom apartment (ground floor):- - The bedroom and living area/bathroom is separate so great for when the baby goes to sleep at night and you can chill in the living room. - The hotel provides travel cots at request (I emailed prior to our trip and it was in the room upon arrival). They provide bedding/sheets in the travel cot. - The room had a fridge, microwave and hob. No oven. There were cooking utensils like pots/pans/bowls/cutlery etc. the fridge is moderately sized with 3 racks, fridge draw, space to put drinks/milk/eggs. There is also a small fridge freezer. They provide x2 small tea towels but no washing up liquid to wash the dishes so you’ll have to buy this. - There is a good size in bath shower. - The balcony area was small and let out onto a grassy area. Our area was contained by a hedge but some balconies in the resort aren’t contained and lead out onto the hotel paths. - The windows in the bedroom have black out curtains which are very effective. - All the floors in the rooms are tile so good to have some sort of play mat for them to sit on. - A high chair isn’t provided in the room but they might be able to bring you one if requested. There is a dinning table with 4 chairs in the room. - There is a single pull out bed until the sofa. Definitely wouldn’t hesitate to visit again.

We have just returned from a short break at Vitors Village. This review is not straightforward. Yes there are some improvements we feel would improve our experience but mostly it was our ignorance of both Vitors Village and the Ferragudo which were to blame. Firstly I believe the web site was confusing . We thought the facilities advertised were to be found at both sites so we were disappointed to find there was no indoor pool at Vitors Village. The facility is 5 blocks of very nice flats . They would be good enough to be main residence but we felt we had booked an Airbnb. There was little or no support from the reception other than to point out where you accommodation was and that was it you got on with it yourself.Both of us are getting on and have poor mobility but there was no help to get your luggage up 2 flights of stairs...it near killed me. The whole site is full of cobbled slopes. A very positive plus is that everywhere was very clean. The on site shop is very poorly stocked but now I realise it was due to the end of the season and imminent closure for winter.We used uber to get to the village and other sights. Cheap and reliable. We are sorry we arranged for transfers through the travel company now when we could have used Uber for a fraction of the price. Ferragudo isn't that great either. Everything really just centres around a square of restaurants. We tried three of them and they were great but there's not much else there.

Pros The hotel grounds are immaculate and well set out. All staff were friendly and happy to help. Our room was on the ground floor in ‘red’ block which was located close enough to everything. The rooms are very spacious and have everything you need. Air con was amazingly cold! Daily cleaning and towel changes. The hotel is located in a nice area and Ubers are readily available. Only had a couple of evening meals in the restaurant. Very little choice but what they do have was nice. Pools were great. Lovely and clean, but cold, but my child didn’t really mind this. Cons Onsite mini market is poorly stocked. Shelves were empty with only the very basic available. You could not self cater using only the shop onsite. We managed to get bread, butter, cheese, pasta and a box of cereal but no milk! Noise from guests above us was the major down side. The constant pounding of feet, doors closing, drawers opening, water running, toilet flushing throughout the night was awful. I can’t even blame it on the guests as the left and more arrived and it was still the same! We were woken at 1am 4am and 6am every day over the last 3 days. There is no sound proofing. The other down side was our bedroom window was outside the main path, so you heard everyone coming back late at night, leaving early with suitcases being dragged on the cobbles outside. Curtains in the bedroom were missing hooks so had to use pegs to keep them closed at night. If I ever return to the area I would request a 1st floor room and use shops in the town for food shopping.

Expected a bit more from this holiday...it wasn't quite what was advertised. This was a family trip...with teens in tow..we stayed on self catering basis. On arrival our room wasn't quite ready so we headed to the restaurant for lunch...food was hit and miss... expensive for what we ordered. Checked into apartments...spacious...clean...and couldn't complain. Cleaning staff brilliant..rooms cleaned daily. Don't bother with the mini market....not sure why it was still open...hardly anything in... but lidl a 20 min walk so no problem. Pool freezing but very clean. There was no indoor pool like we had read about which would have been a great asset to our holiday...as weather not so good. The hotel did not cater for families..not enough to do...it was just like a holiday rental not a hotel. There was no entertainment... nothing to do. Ferragudo nice enough... but many restaurants were closed... or closed on different evenings. Ferragudo a bit underwhelming...run down.. graffiti everywhere but some parts had charm. Trying to get a morning coffee in the restaurant was not so good...because we were not booked in for meals it felt like we were an inconvenience. No table service...had to order in the restaurant and pay there an then.. Thank God we could get Ubers to travel to other areas... Praia de Rocher was lovely. To sum things up...our stay was pleasant... this hotel or area is not somewhere I would want to revisit. Please note dont book if you have mobility issues...on the top of a hill!
