Myself and my ten year old came to the Alvor Baía for half term holiday in October 2024. We had room 324. The hotel is an hour on the coach from the airport. It's a very impressive hotel in real life with the grand entrance. The receptionist was very welcoming and friendly, he gave us a leaflet which explained things at the hotel which was much appreciated. We were then given one of those annoying wristbands to wear all week. The room was great and so much better than I had anticipated and extremely clean. Room was cleaned and maintained daily. We took our travel kettle as advised. On floor -1 there are two restaurants, one for over 12's and the family one. You have to queue to give your room number, so once you're in, you can't keep going in and out. I thought the hotel provided an amazing selection of food and we certainly did not go hungry. The layout isn't great as you can't see what food there is further down the line and you end up stuck in a queue for ages unable to reach something a few feet down. The seating area was very packed, we found that one of us had to remain at the table at all times otherwise we'd lose our plates/table. Plates are sometimes taken away a bit too quickly when you haven't finished, but staff are working very hard in the restaurant area. Eventually we worked out the quieter times to go. Also people were not sanitising their hands when entering the restaurant and everyone touching tongs and dropping tongs in the food. I tried to sanitise my hands with the gel, but the bottle was empty every time. Our room 324 was out the front of the hotel, I think I had requested a quiet room and I am glad I did as the rooms out the back are next to music speakers and continuous noise and this would have spoilt the trip for us. So if you appreciate your quiet time, ask for a room out the front. We met some lovely people at the hotel and out and about on trips. There is a courtesy bus that takes you down to the beach, but it is walkable in 15 minutes. There is a huge supermarket a 7-10 minute walk away if you turn right out the hotel, along an off road track and then turn right at a flat block. Most people acted respectfully there, however on one night the parents a few doors down thought it was appropriate to play chase/IT/hide and seek up and down the corridor at gone midnight with their toddlers, thus waking everyone up. I mentioned it to reception the next day who apologised and said any further incidents to dial on the hotel room phone to reception and it would get sorted. I gave their room number and it didn't happen again. The pool area outside was amazing, just missing a slide or two. There was no lifeguard which I didn't like and notices all around advising to the fact. The entertainment wasn't great, in fact we went down most nights and didn't see anything. I have seen much better at other AI resorts. During the day it involves dunking water on people's head if they couldn't sing karaoke. The only things which could have been improved were: 1. To ditch the annoying wristbands which fell slowly apart every time they touched water. 2. Better security on site to ensure inappropriate behaviour is kept down late at night. 3. Better queuing system in the restaurant. 4. To move the games room from -2 to a more central location so children can make friends, it is very out of the way and no one in it. 5. The shop on site wasn't great. 6. Improve the entertainment. 7. Get a lifeguard on site. 8. Better hygiene for guests entering the restaurant, hand sanitiser for everyone as a must! Thank you for a great stay!

We just got home from October break. The hotel and staff lovely, the apartments plenty big enough for family of 4. The pool is amazing and very long, it allows floats so there was so many happy kids. Park is a great size and under a canopy to give shade. Park is right near pool too. Toddler pool is very sweet, my kids too old but would have loved it when they were younger. Entertainment in evening (mini disco) starts at 8:30pm. They offer entertainment after this too, such as interactive quizzes or live singers. Green restaurant is for families (there is a blue restaurant for anyone over 12 that we didn’t go in as kids not old enough). Green restaurant is not laid out that well, the hot food stations are in one row which means it can cause so many queues. For a hotel this size would have liked hot stations to be separated so people could be served quicker. Or you go to the food you particularly fancy. It also has a manned bar for beer, wine and soft drinks. There is a shop inside which sells essentials and also lots of sweets which draws the kids in and looks nice. The games room is very small but fun for a little while. They have a free library wall to borrow or leave books which was a lovely touch. Cleaning of rooms offered everyday to freshen up. Shower nice and powerful, with handheld shower also there. Snacks bar open at certain times with a server - not help yourself. Burgers and hotdogs, and other bits. There is a bar inside and outside, with an additional bar that is not all inclusive inside- if you wished to have a specific drinks or a nice cocktail. Would recommend this place for families, we had a lovely time. If you get tired of the food which can happen at all inclusives, there is so many restaurants in the nearby town either 10 min walk or plenty of taxis. We used BOLT app for taxis and it was so cheap, the drivers also recommended places to go like certain beaches. Also a shopping centre 10 min drive away which has plenty range of different shops. The hotel offers a free bus service to the beach, and they can book certain activities on your behalf (but you have to pay them cash). Cash point on premises but charges - €4 I believe to withdraw money. They booked us a visit on a cave trip on our behalf and it all went so smoothly. Kids club is a separate building by the hotel which looked to be quite secure from where I saw it- for peace of mind. Didn’t get too close to the building as my kids were not interested, but did look popular which is great. There is a spa with an indoor pool, we didn’t use this so can’t comment. The advertisement and treatments looked lovely though. All in all I would recommend for families. The Green Restaurant also does have a separate small area for kids food too, if they don’t fancy the food being offered at the main part.
