“Very enjoyable but loud at night”

Just come back from staying in this hotel and will say we really enjoyed our stay. Just come back from staying in this hotel and will say we really enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect for us as it’s just around the corner from the strip and there are a number of shops close by. We opted for half board but if we stayed here again we would definitely not choose the dinner option as the choices available were not for us. I will say given the location of this hotel I would not recommend for older people or families as it is quite loud at night.

“Weekend stay as part of a stag group”

Stayed in the hotel as part of a stag party, hotel was great for what we wanted. Location of the hotel is good, its around a 5-10 minute walk to the strip, there is a small newsagent type shop just down the road and you've also got Fat Cats down the road which does breakfast etc. Check in was pretty quick, we didn't arrive until around 22:30 and there was only one lady working but she got it done very quickly and was very pleasant to deal with. Just be aware, they charged us a 300 Euro cash deposit per room when we checked in. When you check out, they check the room and as long as everything is okay you get this back, no problem with our group and we all had the deposit back okay. Rooms are clean and had everything we needed, ours had two single beds and a sofa which could be slept on if needed. Bathroom and shower was clean and had everything we needed, didn't really use the kitchen facilities other than the fridge, room had air con was great too. There was a TV in the room but we didn't really use it. The pool area was pretty quiet, we spent a few hours there every day and was always plenty of sun beds available, we ended up buying drinks from the local shop and having them by the pool, you can also get a drink from the bar and take that out there, they didn't seem bothered about us taking our own drinks around the pool. Not sure if it is like that all the time or more due to the time of year we were there. The hotel has plenty of facilities like a gym, indoor pool, health spa, games room, squash courts, hairdressers but we didn't use any of these. We did use the hotel bar as a meeting point before heading out, some of the group would get a drink before heading out and to be honest the bar man wasn't the happiest of people, but it served it's purpose. The hotel was pretty quiet for the weekend when we were there, but I would definitely consider staying there again, it was clean, had everything we needed and was in a good location.

“Hotel Full of Hen and Stag Do's, Don't expect to get any sleep !”

We arrived at 11am and were told check-in wasn't until 4pm. So went exploring the area instead, and found "the strip" was only a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Lots of restaurants, bars and clubs, plus some shops. When we went to check-in at 4pm the room still wasn't ready so we were given a different room [we booked a studio with balcony], when we got to the room the maid was still making it up. We found it was a twin room and asked for a double, only to be told the studio apartments are only twin rooms, no double beds! The beds were in a partitioned off section of the room and when we pushed the beds together we literally had 6 inches either side between bed and wall, so had to climb over the bed from the bottom to get in and out luckily we don't have mobility issues! The room itself was quite dated and to be honest other than the reception area, most of the hotel really needs a good update and decorating, I would say it's more a 3 star than a 4 star hotel. It was fairly clean and we had new towels, also the studio kitchen had everything we needed [fridge/freezer, microwave, oven, hob, kettle, toaster, dishwasher plus lots of utensils, cutlery and crockery]. There was a television with lots of UK channels and air con. The bathroom was quite dark and the shower was a mixer tap from the bath taps, WARNING the water fluctuates in temperature during showering and could go boiling hot one minute and freezing cold the next ! Our room was 334 and opposite the lift plus also overlooking the hotel front entrance via our balcony, this was very noisy at night for the following reasons... The hotel states NO hen or stag parties, when there were numerous hen and stag parties at the hotel and they weren't being subtle about it! The hotel guests were mostly single sex groups of girls or lads in their late teens and early twenties, there were very few couples, older guests or families! The guests were mostly Irish[~80%], some English, some Portuguese and a few continental. If you like a good night sleep, are easily disturbed and don't want to be woken constantly by loud noise from midnight til 6am...this is NOT the hotel for you! We were woken every night during our 7 night stay by the "party goers" coming in mostly between 3am and 6am shouting, screaming, banging on doors, playing music, fighting and slamming doors, there was absolutely nothing done about it by the hotel staff even after numerous complaints, there is no security at the hotel! It was not unusual to find vomit in the corridors or people asleep on the sofas by the lifts in the morning. If you do go here, I would recommend ear plugs ! We had the bed & breakfast option and to be fair breakfast was very good and served 730-10am, but if you get there a minute after 10am you will be refused entry! Selection of cooked breakfast, breads, pastries, fruit, yoghurts, cereals, cold meats, tea, coffee and fruit juice. There is a book depository for people to borrow books or trade in their books for another one, which was really good as we both enjoy reading by the pool. Ask at reception as it's in the room behind reception in a shopping trolley. The pool is not the one pictured in most of the photo galleries on here, that is the large one in the opposite hotel, the actual pool is the smaller rectangular one. It doesn't open until 9am, but don't worry about getting there early as most of the guests are sleeping off the night before until at least lunchtime! There is a pool bar, which is a sort of shed, drinks are a bit pricey, to be honest there is a supermarket about 3 mins walk from the hotel entrance and you'd be better off buying from there and keeping in your room fridge! It gets a bit messy and noisy around the pool even though there was a speaker playing music, there was always at least 3 or 4 groups with their own portable speakers playing conflicting music. There wasn't supposed to be glass bottles allowed by the pool for safety reasons, but this was ignored too! Also, take a pool from home or buy one for about 8-9 Euros out there as the hotel charges rental on pool towels at about 10 euros for the week and 10 euros deposit, there's a sign in the room that warns you not to take room towels to the pool or beach or face a 30 euro fine per towel ! If you want to have a change of scenery you can get on the hop on hop off train which stops on the main road near The Clay Oven restaurant, for 6 euros per adult. Ticket lasts all day and it's about 20 minutes to the old town, which is very different to "the strip" and more relaxed and a bit more classy! Also, there is a lovely beach there! We found a fantastic restaurant "The Clay Oven" Indian restaurant, food was gorgeous, so good we went there twice! It gets pretty busy as it's very popular, so best time to go is between 6-7pm as it's walk in only, no bookings! I would like to give a shout out to one member of staff at the hotel "Gustavo" who was super helpful and recommended a Portuguese restaurant 6 minutes walk from the hotel.

Literally 400 or metres away from strip central if that floats your boat. Reception...21st Century, rooms...stuck in the 80's. This place is seriously in need of a lick of paint, or a complete overhaul. Pool to the Luna Hotel does not appear on Google Maps, so either it's magicaly appeared over the last few years or Google Maps is in the Mediterranean mode of life...chilled and horizontal. Room was relatively big, being a self catering unit (135) but the lights seem a little iffy, if that's what you call it; loose light bulbs that gave the impression of a duff lamp! Cutlery not in the place where you would least expect it to be (maybe place it in the kitchen area, and not the 'sideboard' in the lounge area) Pool area is not as strict as the hotel opposite to it, there us no rush for a sunbed due to most of the hotel occupants being racked up in their beds from partying too hard the night before, so there is no need to set your alarm at stupid O'clock and run for a bed...there are plenty; Pool not that warm considering! All in all, a few days break from the riggers of the mundane UK living, good weather and cheap local beer! Sagre €2.50 a pint.
