First time ever away abroad in February and we were pleasantly surprised not only by the lovely weather but how much was open in and around Albufeira. Hotel Maritur was delightful. Beautiful hotel, extremely clean & bright spacious comfortable bedrooms and lovely bathroom. The amenities were great- in both the room and in and around the hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed the lovely warm indoor pool and plunge pool and the fabulously relaxing Jacuzzi . There is a lovely shaped outdoor pool but, despite the lovely sunny weather, it wasn't warm enough to use! The food was excellent. We had such a fabulous choice of fresh fruits, cold meats, pastries, breads, full English and toast-all served to us at the table. The evening meals were also great and we had lots of choices. Pietro, the director of food and beverages, made us feel like royalty when discussing the Valentines evening meal with us. It was perfect. Above all this I want to express our thanks to EVERY member of staff who made this a perfect holiday. Nothing was too trouble and I can't fault their attentive, professional and welcoming manner. NB worth upgrading for a sea view. We'll definitely be returning.

My husband and I visited the Hotel Maritur in September 2024 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean and had good facilities. We had a room on the east side of the hotel with a balcony which had a sea view. Toiletries were provided in the bathroom, and the bedroom had a kettle, a fridge, and air conditioning. Paper cups were provided, which I didn't like, but we had our travel mugs, so it was fine. A 10 minute walk out of the front of the hotel took us to Albufeira Marina, which was lovely. Plenty of bars, coffee shops and restaurants to choose from. You can also sign up for some of the tours and activities here. The City sightseeing bus stops here, and you can pick up taxis and tuk tuk here. It was a downhill walk getting there, but quite a steep walk back up. We always walked, except once when we got a tuk tuk back up the hill and it was a flat rate of €10. If you went out the road to the back of the hotel, there were 2 beaches - one a 5 minute walk and the other about 15/20 minutes. The nearest beach was smaller and there a couple of little coves, but there was a lovely restaurant/bar there, with toilets. The further away beach was a longer one and also had a restaurant. Both beaches had car parks. The Old Town was just 10/15 minutes away from the marina by bus. It's lovely to walk around with cobbled streets, whitewashed buildings and vibrant colours, but we found it very 'touristy'. Lots of tourist shops (I asked the Reception where locals shopped and she said there was a shopping mall a short distance away, which you could take a bus to). Loads of restaurants and bars to choose from, but just watch, some of them are quite pricey. There's a long, popular beach in front of the Old Town and there's a lift at one end that takes you up to the top of the cliff. There's an escalator at the other end! Back to the hotel - a lovely outdoor pool (bit chilly, but that's supposed to be good for you!) and a small indoor pool. You have to wear a bathing cap in the indoor pool, but you can buy one for €3 from Reception. The restaurant and bar are just off the poolside. There's also a seating area in a small pool. We thoroughly enjoyed all our meals and thought the a la carte menu had a great variety on it. The best thing about the hotel was the staff. They were so helpful, nice and friendly and made all the difference.

There was a kettle in the room but no tea bags or milk so would need to take your own. Very quiet as it was end of season when we visited but nice walks to beaches Arrifes, Sao Rafael (nice restaurant there, we had a lovely lunch) & Coelha (approx 30 minutes to walk there but worth it, nice restaurant for lunch too) Can walk to marina where there are bars and restaurants, in approx 15 mins, longer on the way back as it’s uphill! Or get a taxi. It’s a good 40 /45 minute walk to Albufeira old town square but plenty of restaurant choices / bars here. We stopped on the marina at the Irish bar for a drink to break up the walk!

Very quiet area almost residential with the odd hotel and 2 lovely beaches. Location was a short walk from the marina and old town, which can be walked quite easily, 15 to 20 mins to marina and a total of 35 mins to old town. There is a service bus quite near the hotel which takes 6 mins to the old town for 5.40 euro for two. Staff friendly no problem there. We went half board with no choice. Breakfast was buffet with a lady who would cook you an English breakfast as well as the usual cold food, all good there. We went with TUI who was not clear that all evening meals were served at the table from a menu and a suggested 3 course menu all was good. Room was very large, containing a large bathroom. We had a very large balcony which we couldn't use as it got no sun at all as it was over the reception area at the front of the hotel. Sea view rooms would have got a lovely sea view as it faced the Atlantic. The only thing I would criticise is the condition of the sun beds some were broken and all of them were just fit for the skip. Room was cleaned daily and towels were changed daily.
