We had an absolute amazing time over Christmas period. Food was excellent. The layout for the Christmas meal was lovely thoroughly enjoyed it staff brilliant nothing too much trouble rooms lovely and clean made service excellent, thank you

On arrival we were greeted by a lovely receptionist, we were early so we had access to all the facilities which was great. The hotel also has a free coach service to take you into town and back. The room needed upgrading, However the sea view was amazing. The food was OK I can't complain, there was something there was everyone especially dessert. I experience one rude resturant staff member. but everyone else was nice. Bar area limited seats in the evening also long queue at the bar. The beach was amazing, However you have to go down stairs to explore the sand area, it was worth it. On Christmas day we was treated to a lovely 5 course Dinner, with endless drinks which was nice, they really made Christmas day special. I enjoy my holiday it was nice, calm and peaceful.

“Value for money”

This was our second visit to the Auramar, first time over Christmas. We booked an all inclusive package as previously. The food and selection in the restaurant was excellent and the bonus of an unexpected, Christmas day sit down dinner with all the trimmings, was a very pleasant bonus. Unfortunately the downstairs bar and entertainment lounge was closed for a Christmas function. This meant that the hotel's guests(which was fully booked) were compelled to use the reception area coffee lounge as a bar area, during a two week period. This created overcrowding and endless queues at the bar, to comply with the stringent 'two drinks per person' rule. This said, the bar staff worked exceedingly hard and coped admirably. Unfortunately the adjacent patio had been covered with a marquee to accomadate the evening entertainment, however this area was inundated with guests whom insisted on smoking, despite non smokers and families with children wishing to watch the entertainment. Throughout the outside pool, lounge and refreshment areas we were plagued by guests smoking. Our apartment which was in the A block, was clean and comfortable, with a limited sea view. Although the room had air conditioning, it wasn't working, but due to time of year it wasn't necessary. Nevertheless, the apartments either side used their air conditioning almost continually, which was very noisy, making sleeping with an open window or using the small balcony almost impossible. The hotel has excellent access to the lovely unspoilt beach, nearby, making walking into Albufeira old town easy and pleasant, even though the hotel provides a free bus shuttle. I was particularly disappointed to learn there was a 15 euro charge to use our room safe deposit box for a week, I found this to be excessive and prohibitive, when security should be encouraged and included in the all inclusive package. The staff in their entirety were pleasant, happy, hard working people and a pleasure to know. All in all the Auramar was great value and we enjoyed our stay.

We booked this place when leaving Portugal in august as a bit of a relaxing holiday before our new baby arrives in January, we opted for this place because of the photos that are online of the views of the ocean and really that’s all they have got , the hotel is like stepping back in time to the 1980s , don’t get me wrong the views are amazing but everything else is not up to par , most of the staff look like they are forced to be there , the whole place needs to be revamped, when we arrived straight away we upgraded our room to a supreme room with a sea view and to be honest that was the best bit about the whole trip , the restaurant was ok and is what is to be expected from a 3 star hotel, but in all honesty I think Because of how out of date the hotel is , you could get more for your money elsewhere in albufeira, there is no room in the entertainment area (which is in the reception area ) and definitely not enough seating , there was people leaving as there was no where to sit , I know it’s out of season but abit more was expected than just karaoke from the entertainment, im not a alcoholic drinker but they have a rule of no alcohol before 5 o’clock which I find astonishing as most people that book all inclusive hotels are drinking around 1pm , I personally think if this place was refurbished it could well become a 5 star hotel because of its location as it does have incredible views and is literally on the beach ,
