Long Post Alert! TL;DR: Our group of six had an amazing first-time experience at CRT and would gladly return! We spent seven wonderful days at CRT in early March with two other couples. Four of us were first-time visitors to Mexico. From the moment we arrived, the resort felt safe, clean, comfortable, and welcoming. Travel & Arrival We flew with Air Transat from Toronto to Cancun and used the included transportation to and from the resort. Travel time was about 90 minutes upon arrival (beverages were available for purchase on the bus) and about an hour on the way back to the airport. We wouldn’t hesitate to use this service again. Navigating Cancun Airport was easier than expected. Though we’d heard stories about aggressive salespeople pushing timeshares and private transfers, a simple "no, thank you" kept them at bay. For our return flight, check-in, baggage drop, and security were quick, giving us plenty of time for duty-free shopping and dining before departure. Check-In & Accommodations Check-in was smooth, with a welcome drink and a cool towel upon arrival. Check-out was just as efficient. We opted out of the Privileged status and still had an amazing experience. Two of our rooms were on the third floor of Building 1, and the other was on the ground floor of Building 4. None of us had issues with musty smells or humidity. The air conditioning worked well, though swimsuits took a couple of days to dry on the balcony. Housekeeping kept the rooms spotless, and we appreciated the option to reuse towels to support the resort’s environmental efforts. The beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows and an extra blanket. Robes, slippers, a hairdryer, and an iron/ironing board were nice touches. Dining & Drinks All meals were excellent! The QR code reservation system was easy to use. The buffet was great, and the snack bar burgers were fantastic. We wondered if the à la carte restaurants could accommodate a group of six—they absolutely did, even at Rauxa. The food was very good, and portions were just right. The Italian restaurant was our favorite, and we dined there twice. For fellow Canadian travelers: They do have Canadian Club whiskey at the lobby and pool bars. Drinks were delicious—favorites included the Tequila Sunrise and Chocolate Monkey cocktails. They also serve Caesars with Clamato, which tasted like home! Entertainment & Activities Entertainment was enjoyable, with activities at the pool and beach during the day and great evening shows. We especially liked Mexican Night, which featured a small carnival with games. The entertainment team was engaging but never pushy—they truly seemed to love their jobs. We took advantage of the free Hobie Cat several times—Marco Polo, our captain, made it extra fun! The crafting activities (added cost) near the pool were super and a nice option for those who didn't want to take part in the more active entertainment. Pool & Beach The pool was beautiful and refreshing, though finding a chair could be challenging unless you reserved one early. The beach and ocean were the true highlights! We easily found chairs daily, and there was only one vendor selling hats and jewelry—he was courteous and not pushy. Service & Staff The staff were some of the best we've encountered at an all-inclusive resort. They were friendly, helpful, and genuinely seemed to enjoy working at CRT. The resort recognizes long-time employees with a sign near the beach listing their years of service, which was a nice touch. We encountered the ETC (Exclusive Traveler Club) reps near the bridge to the jungle. After a few chats, they offered us a meal at B’Loved in exchange for attending a presentation, but we politely declined, and they never approached us again with a sales pitch. Little Extras That Made a Big Difference CRT goes above and beyond with thoughtful touches: umbrellas in the rooms, pretzels at the lobby bar, purse racks in the restaurants, photographers, and even an accessibility wheelchair for the beach. We loved that the room key doubled as our resort bracelet. These small details confirmed for us that CRT is invested in making everyone’s stay even more enjoyable. Final Thoughts We would absolutely recommend CRT to friends and family and would love to return!

My room was not beach view but I had greens and I find it hard to complain about that. I went to Mexico because that is where my friend wanted to go and I have no regrets. The place was clean and they were responsive to my requests.

The property is very nice. The staff is absolutely great and the best part of the place. The food was average typical resort food. The shrimp had shells and were not deveined lots of work and they were also tough. We were here for a week and they served pretty much the same thing all week. Breakfast and lunch only. No evening buffet that was a bit of a drag. The specialty restaurants needed to be booked in advance for dinners. Their food was good nothing outstanding. There’s a lack of flexibility in that system. Being on holiday we prefer to eat whenever we want not have to make it to a reservation. The beach was absolutely beautiful and the water great. We stood for over an hour to book a catamaran (free 25 minute trip) on the Saturday on the beach and whoever was in charge of the rental hut never showed up. It would be nice if they would’ve had some communication. Guest services said they are separate from them but still they’re on their property and it’s offered as part of the resort No one told us that we just overheard it They also have free kayak and sub available If you want to go to Playa de Carmen or Tulum or a nearby big shopping center The property is right off the main road so it’s very easy to get a collectivo which is a local shuttle that is about 15- 30 pesos per person. Eight minutes away there is a large grocery and clothing and liquor store chain. It’s a great place to buy tequila if you’re interested. The shuttle picks you up again on schedule another 15 pesos and you’re back at the hotel. Getting peso change is difficult especially the 20 peso notes. You will definitely notice smokers around here. They do not restrict themselves to the smoking area and there’s no obvious signage anywhere . And unfortunately the smoking area is right at the entrance to where you go on the beach. The drink service is very good and generous, and as mentioned, the staff are great Another thing we think they should have is structures to provide shade. Besides, just a few palm trees there is very little and people were struggling to find shade.
