This was our 12th visit to this resort and it was not disappointing at all. Check-in by a friendly receptionist was fast and efficient. As we always arrive early, we knew our room would not be ready. We left our luggage secured by the bellboys and proceeded to La Brisa, one of two buffet restaurants, where we were met with big hugs by so many of the wonderful staff that we have known for years. ACCOMODATIONS: We were in Block 8300 in the Privileged building. We had a suite consisting of a separate seating area, a comfortable bedroom, and a lovely patio overlooking the beautiful well kept gardens. LANDSCAPING: The grounds are immaculate and the gardeners work very hard to maintain the lawns and flowers. Give them a few pesos for their hard work. HOUSEKEEPING: Thank you Esmeralda for keeping our suite in tip top shape every day. You do an excellent job and it was so appreciated. FOOD: We always found something delicious to eat at either of the two buffet restaurants with a good variety of food available. All restaurants ask for your room number and if you have any allergies every time you enter. A LA CARTE RESTAURANTS: We enjoyed The Grill (steakhouse), the Mexican restaurant, the Japanese restaurant, B’Loved, the Italian restaurant and the Burger Bar. BEACH: The beach on the Privileged side has been hit by many storms and is very rocky. Water shoes are advised for this area and caution when entering the water. The beach on the Yucatan side is sandy and much easier for access into the sea. SUN-BEDS: It was low season so sun-beds were always available. POOLS: All pools were cleaned and chlorinated every day. It is a gated community safe to explore. The Marina has many restaurants if you wish to eat off the resort. You can watch the dolphins there while you enjoy your meal. We look forward to returning in May, 2025 to our “home away from home”. Thank you to all the amazing people who work so hard every day. Gracias!!!

“Beloved”

I highly suggest eating at beloved. The steaks are always well seasoned and cooked how you like it. The appetizers are good. Earnestina was our waitress and she is great. Knowledgeable and very helpful, and so kind!! I look forward to eating here again.

After reading so many mixed reviews about the Catalonia I was very unsure of what to expect. Both positive and negative comments have merit, I will do my best to summarize our experience. My SO and I booked a last minute 7d vacation to the Catalonia through Air Canada vacations. Porto Adventura- is a newer gated community that the resort resides in. Close by are many restaurants, shops, marina and a dolphin experience. It is located close to many cenotes and the tulum ruins. I was a little surprised at how expensive everything is, no matter what tour you pick be prepared to spend some cash. The hotel- during our stay the hotel was under construction, half our hotel block, the main bar pool and gym were closed. I absolutely understand the need for renovations and upkeep- it would have been nice if they had let us know in advance. Our room was nice, had all the basics. We did have two significant water leaks from the roof but they sent maintenance right away. Food- the booking system for the restaurants is the bane of my existence. It wasn’t working for me the majority of the time, and you had to set an alarm at 08 as they would be fully booked by 0810.. The buffets are nice, lots of options for everyone- however I think they could offer more Mexican food, they seemed to offer mostly American food. We were not able to try the chill out bar or beloved restaurant as those are for privileged gusts only. Spa- we did not try as I found the prices to be quite expensive ($165CAD for a facial or massage). Beach- if a white sandy beach is what you’re looking for, this is not it. There are two small sections of rocky beach divided by a walk way. There are plenty of loungers for everyone to use. It is quite rocky, there reef sectioned off in the middle that has some incredible snorkeling! We paid for a snorkeling tour and I feel like we saw way more at the hotel than on the excursion. Dive shop- we did try a couple times to book a snorkeling tour though the drive shop, but they said they weren’t taking anyone out, maybe this was just bad luck for us, disappointing one the less. Staff- everyone was very kind and friendly here. There was lots of activities though out the day to participate in. All and all the experience was okay.
