We had a great time at Grand Velas. The service is phenomenal. Daniel Nava had everything in place, setup, and assisted everything request made by our family. He even found a pair of lost headphones and ensured they were sent back. Ruben and Humberto made our pool experience even better than imagined. They took care of everything and even knew my kids favorite items and brought without asking. Definitely will be back. Food is good, service is exceptional, and the rooms were the ideal size and well maintained.

“The best of the best! We want a Grand Velas on every holiday!”

We came from the UK firstly in October 2023 to the Cabo Grand Velas (a trip we tagged onto the Chicago Marathon). We loved Grand Velas so much, we booked a stand alone trip from the UK to Playa del Carmen in April 2024. WOW. This hotel even exceeded our Cabo experience. Ricardo was the best concierge we have ever had, nothing was ever too much trouble, he really put in a shift each and everyday he looked after us. We had surprises in our room, they went to lengths to find out what sex baby we were having to leave blue/pink yogurt covered strawberries in our with champagne and non alcoholic fizz. It felt like 50 people were running around after us all holiday, the pool, breakfast, lunch, dinner - people stood up as we walked past reception (maybe unnecessary but never seen anything like it). We chopped and changed restaurants and that was all accommodated, we were with our son and he loved it. We caught the tail end of the Easter holiday high season where there was so much kids entertainment (foam party, bubble show, puppet show with snacks). We were waited on hand and food, the all you can eat/drink was well enjoyed and they couldn’t push enough food and drink on you. It was amazing. Even someone coming around the pool to clean your glasses. The spa is unbelievable (not cheap). The restaurants are great, we loved Piaf, Cocina de Autor (Michelin star), Lucca. We will 100% be back in many years time, when the boys are old enough to travel so far again and enjoy the hotel fully with us,

“Amazing hotel and experience”

This is an amazing property - service, rooms, spa, pools, food - all top-notch and worthy of all the great reviews. The staff at the hotel could not be more service-oriented; restaurants were fantastic; and pools are amazing. I'd highly recommend and look forward to returning!

Stayed here over the US Thanksgiving week. Very nice hotel, very comfortable, staff exceptionally friendly. We met my wife's brother and his family here for a family vacation. Our family included our 10 year old daughter and 17 year old son. Pros: -- The staff (EVERYONE) was very friendly, polite, helpful, and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Every time we walked by the lobby, the staff would stand and greet us with a smile. That said, our kids did notice that if they walked by alone (without us), they weren't necessarily greeted the same (except for Guillermo!!!...see below). -- Location of the resort made it easy to do a trip to various sites in the area; the concierge/excursion center was incredibly helpful to explain and plan our trips/activities -- Very clean and well taken care of property -- Food at the restaurants was delicious! Our troop had a GREAT dining experience at Cocina de Autor. After the 9 (or 10?) course meal, Chef Nahúm Velasco came out to meet us and was incredibly warm. Really cool that he engaged with our kids who asked questions about the meal, his approach, etc. (think he was at least a little impressed that our 10 year old loved all the dishes). -- The beach was beautiful! We took time at sunrise to watch the sun come up over the water. There is seaweed, but the resort is doing everything they can to minimize. Lots of water sports activities. Cons: -- Strict enforcement of dining ages; our daughter has a ton of experience dining, but was not allowed to dine at several of the restaurants (min age of 12 yrs old). They did accommodate us (after a few email back and forth) and allow her to dine at the Cocina de Autor, which she loved (ate everything in front of her). -- Limited choices for breakfast and lunch for families. Mentioned above, they set a very strict restriction on allowing children 12yrs and over to places like the Bistro. So breakfast and lunch were limited to the buffet. -- For families with children under 8 yrs old or over 12 yrs old, the place is great...but for those with children in the "tween" years (ages 9-11), it really is difficult place to enjoy thoroughly, and would recommend you think about staying here if your child(ren) fall into this "tween" range. Last shoutout to the awesome staff that made our trip the best! -- Damian, Raul, Daniel, and Jonathan were the best at our Thanksgiving feast. -- Guillermo always had a smile and greeted us every time we walked by the desk or had a question to ask. Kids told us that he was the only one who treated them the same as if they were any other adult. It's the small things that can make a difference and be noticed. -- Both concierge folks were the best (Alexa and Ricardo). They were always there to make sure we had everything we needed and were very responsive throughout our stay. Our 17 year old came down sick in the last two days or our trip...he was very sick (likely from too much delicious food). Alexa was so great in getting him anything he needed. Can't say enough about how attentive she was. Definitely would consider coming back to Grand Velas again...but not until our daughter turns 12yrs old. :)
