My husband and I stayed at GVRM a few times as an adult only trip and twice as a spring break family vacation. I cannot say enough about the excellent quality of this place. We were super impressed with both our family trips because the resort is so family oriented and accommodating to children. We spent our days at the beach where everything was perfect because of the attentive beach staff, Umberto, and Francesca. We had plenty of cold drinks, shade, and snacks. The daily beach buffet for lunch is outstanding, something for everyone in our group. In the evening, we had delicious dinners. Again, the staff were very accommodating to our grandchildren ages 8 and 6. Shout out to Valeria at Frida, and Antonio at Chaka. Both took exceptionally good care of us each time we were there. And I cannot forget to mention our concierge, Israel, who kept us informed of daily activities and even recommended dinner entrées to try. He took care of all six of us. Do not hesitate to book your trip! You can’t go wrong either way, adult only or family. I’m sure we will be returning.

This was our first family vacation at an all-inclusive resort. We had a great time and will be coming here again. All of the food was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. The weather was uncooperative, but the indoor activities were a good substitute for beach and pool time on the days it was too rainy to enjoy the outdoors. We also wanted to specifically acknowledge some of the staff. Gabriel Ayala - Our concierge was thorough, helpful, and always available. He gave timely and very appreciated advice, especially as this was our first time at an all-inclusive resort. When our initial room had some water leakage (due to the intense tropical storm), he had us re-roomed in a few hours, and the whole thing was a stress-free as it could be. We will request him for our next stay. Izamar, Mary, & Liliana - These three staff at the kids' club did an exceptional job. My daughter was extremely difficult one afternoon, and they were tremendously patient and generous with their time, even staying late to give her a chance to participate in an activity after a late arrival.

We happened to visit for only two nights because my older boys prefer to be at a more activity filled resort especially Hotel Xcaret. I have never experienced such wonderful service from any all inclusive like the staff at Grand Velas. I’m terrible with names but everyone was phenomenal. For example server (tall lady with glasses) named A overheard me talking to my kids about how wonderful the lamb chops are and she offered to bring it to the table for me. It’s the little special touches that make it memorable. Tayde at the pool was great ensuring I had enough Prosecco. Make sure to request Miriam as personal concierge because she really makes you feel so welcome and treats you like you are family. She’s incredibly responsive and went over and beyond even though she was not even officially assigned to us! Everyone was so kind and greeted us in the hallways, restaurants, including the gardener with the sombrero hat. The mixed drinks were generally weak, but we really appreciated the fresh squeezed juices and quality of food considering it is an all inclusive resort. Beach was not really pretty with all the rock structures but kids enjoyed seeing little fishes in the shallow water. The pool was huge and amazing. Wanted to mention our appreciation for night concierge Ricardo and concierges Annie, Carolina, Gabriel, Fernando, and Antonio and Ensencio in the front. Gabriel from Zen pool was a pure delight. However this resort is far from perfect. I requested our drains to be checked because it wasn’t draining properly. It took them a day and a half to fix it. There were mildew stains on the curtains and it remained there. I’m sure it’s inevitable with all the humidity. My husband requested sheets and it took them 45 minutes and an extra phone call to receive it. There was a huge problem with my room. The first night there was an inundation of sugar ants all over the floors. On the second night there was a leak in the ceiling. I was kindly offered a room change but I didn’t feel comfortable with my 2 year old daughter next to a plunge pool. There was a considerable amount of rain the two days we were there and the ceiling sprang a leak on night two. Managers Aaron Ruiz and Antonio tried to make it right by offering us to change rooms. Unfortunately I was not able to take the offer because my daughter was asleep (we co-sleep) and I could not move her without waking her up. For two nights I was not able to use one out of the two bedrooms we booked. While the beds were comfortable I had very minimal sleep to say the least.
