I have no idea how people give this hotel bad ratings. I arrived on June 30th and I'm leaving on July 14th. I came with my family of 5 and we all agree that our experience was amazing! There are very little minor issues that didn't affect our holiday at all. When arriving at the hotel the line to sign in was long but free drinks made it better, many people were arriving and we were so relieved to be there after a 10 hour flight so queues didn't bother us. We got 2 junior rooms but one got upgraded which was great! Rooms: Rooms were nice, clean and comfortable. We're on the ground floor but we got a patio which would often have deers outside in the morning which was pretty. Service: Service was amazing, problems were solved quickly and staff were always asking if we needed help or saying goodmorning. They would come round while your at the pool to ask for any drinks and would bring them to you. Restaurant Service was quick. Food: People say how bad the food is but I disagree. The buffet food might be a bit repetitive but that's what every other buffet is like. Overall the food was great and the restaurants had nice food too. There is not one meal I did not like and we went to many restaurants, my favourite being the miso. There are limited food places throughout the day but you could always get a taco, burger or hotdog from the pool areas or food in the buffet at lunch. Cleanliness: Hotel was incredibly clean. We were here during hurricane Beryl which blew down trees and left the whole hotel full of leaves and sticks, however within one day it was back to normal. Floors in entrance and plaza and so clean and shiny and room Service came everyday! Animals: The animals did not bother me at all. The coatis were cute and never stole anything from my bag as we were always there. Once it drank my fanta but as the drinks are free at any time, it didn't bother me at all. If they tried to steal my food I just picked my plate up. People complained alot about the coatis even though this is THEIR HOME, and they are animals, they will try and hunt for food. There were cats which were cute to spot and other animals such as monkeys, deer and more which didn't affect me at all. Overall my trip has been amazing. Entertainment was one of the best I've seen, polite staff and a clean hotel. Booking trips was easy and they were amazing. Very few issues including bugs, some long queues at bar, beach smells a bit ( got used to it quickly ) and the high prices in gift shops, however none of these made me feel any worse about my stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel and do not understand how people do not. Reading some negative reviews while in the hotel is shocking as I never found any of the things mentioned an issue and I'm surprised at how people may think these negative things about it ( most people complain alot about minor issues )

This would have been a 2 but the staff give it the extra mark. They all work so hard but it's almost impossible to turn a sows ear into a silk purse. This hotel needs a complete refurb everywhere. It's shabby , it smells , it's mouldy and it's just TOO big. We stayed at the Platinum rooms , upgraded when we got there , if this was an upgrade then I feel sorry for those staying in the standard rooms. Rooms so tired . Although the bed was big and comfortable. We had to change rooms after hurricane Beryl decided to flood our room but no big deal. We couldn't sit outside our new room because of the stench of the sewers. It was only just possible to retrieve the clothes that had dried without passing out ! Our clothes soaked up the dampness in the room and started to smell. God knows who gave this hotel a 5 star rating. Don't think TUI can have had any of their staff stay here as they would have surely reduced its rating . For me it's not quite a 3 star. The food was hit and miss. Some of the a la cartes were okay, the Italian was our fav. We walked out of Thai and went to the buffet. The food there was very standard , we've stayed at 3 and 4 star hotels with better buffet food. The last night was a Gala night and again very average. The platinum pool area was okay with cabanas and plenty of sunbeds, waitress drinks service but set back from the beach area so little or no breeze and the water not that deep so in the afternoon it was like a warm bath. We tried the main pool area and swim up bar. 1 drink and a quick return to platinum area. Not for us I'm afraid. One of the things we saw was that there was hardly any shade. How can a 5* hotel not provide parasols where there is blazing heat . The few areas that were shaded the beds were taken by 6am everyday we were told by a couple of people. The beach was nice but the sea was very rocky and a bit brown and smelly and only just thigh deep at its deepest so no swimming or snorkeling. If you think booking platinum is adults only think again. It's full of families with young children. Some very well behaved and others just left to ruin other people's days by running riot whilst parents slept or drank. Not what we paid the extra for. That's about it really. We made the best of what was available. Again the staff were fabulous and I imagine get paid a pittance. I came armed with plenty of dollars for tips and i hope i showed my appreciation of their efforts.
