A lovely resort, in particular the Asian restaurant was a great eatery. Room was lovely, had a plunge pool deluxe. Housekeeping & Mini Bar staff were fantastic. Really friendly staff in the main areas, and the pool wait staff were happy to help. The BBQ at the pool was amazing & fresh… The only let down during stay was check out… just beware if you intend to use the spa they charge you an additional fee for a different “special” oil which you’re not informed of, I only uncovered this at check out and the agent was not helpful in resolving, in the end I just had to pay to leave as transfer to airport was waiting… and I had waited 20 mins for someone to come from the spa to discuss my query… wasn’t a query… you charged me for something I wasn’t aware of or asked for!

If you want a basic, budget vacation then this is it. If you want something a little better, I highly recommend skipping this resort and going with Grand Fiesta Americana. We have been to both and there IS a big difference in quality. Dreams has quantity but lacks in quality. Here are a few issues I ran into during our stay: 1. Everything is a sales opportunity. From the moment you arrive in the lobby, you will be sold something. In our case, it was the Dreams Rep who wanted to "invite" us to another property for breakfast and to tour it with the end goal of enlisting us into a Dream vacation membership. We declined but it was annoying that they could tell you that they are getting your keys and helping you to your room so that you are held captive for their sales pitch. Clearly, they work in tandem with the hotel. Despite this, I heard we got off lightly. Other hotel guests said they felt coerced into signing off that they would do the tour and then harassed with calls to their room. They eventually changed rooms and then the hotel shared their info and they were followed again. Not cool. For this reason alone I will never stay at a Dreams Resort again. 2. Rooms at the resort are tiered. You can get a "PLUS" room which allows you access to certain restaurants on the property for breakfast and a private plunge pool in front of your room. It's not worth it. No one seemed to use them. At Grand Fiesta you can go to any restaurant you want. 3. Food. They have several restaurants BUT not all of them are open every day so you're not getting as many options as you think, and some are off-limits at certain times of day depending on the kind of room you booked. If that weren't bad enough the food was cold on most days in the buffet, and food was nothing to write home about. We were never excited to eat. Finally, they take no reservations. Some people like this but the fact is if you're not at a restaurant that is open at the time they open you can wait up to 2 hrs to get a table. Reservations can be work, but ultimately you know when you're eating and it will be somewhere you want to be. 4. Kids zone. Our kid is a mature 9. We wanted him to able to play games in their "game room" (literally a smallish room with a few games and were told he had to be 10. I get that they might want to reserve certain areas for older kids but there was a 1 year age difference and there was ONE other kid in the room. Additionally, I was with him not leaving him there. I was asked to leave. Add to this that it was raining and there was little else to do and you get the picture. Our kid also tried the free kids entertainment where you check your kid in and pick them up later. He didn't like it. Again, very few video games and most programming is geared to smaller children. Overall the property is nice. The infinity pool is the main draw. The buildings like the pools have seen better days but again, if budget is what you want then this will do.

This place is aggressively average. I came here for a wedding and if not for that I would never chosen this place. The rooms were nice enough but they barely came to clean. The food was overall mediocre. I only had a chance to eat in the Italian and the Steak house. The Steakhouse was gross. My steak was greasy yet rubbery and my friend said the chorizo turned to powder in his mouth. The Italian was pretty good but we had to wait almost 2 hours to get in. And there's really no waiting area to speak of. I don't trust resort mixed drinks so I mostly stuck to rose/sparkling wine - it wasn't terrible so I'll give them that. They did make a really good spicy margarita at the preferred club. That was probably the best drink I had there. And the cafe had pretty good coffee - that was my other favorite thing. Pool is okay. Beach was pretty nice but we didn't really get to enjoy it too much because of the crappy weather. The wedding itself was nice and they at least did a good job with that - that seems to be what this place caters to. There were multiple weddings going on simultaneously. I personally would not have liked that because we could hear the music blasting from the other wedding's reception right on the other side of the wall from us while we were doing toasts. Doesn't really give that intimate and personalized experience. The food was average but the desserts were really good. Another thing to note - it was raining while we were there and the grounds are really really slippery when wet. I saw multiple people slip and fall while we there - definitely a risk for older folks. And they provided umbrellas in the room but they were flimsy and most of them broken. Overall, everything about this place is just "okay". Or perhaps inconsistent is a better word. Very middle of the road. I guess that works for some but I think you can do so much better elsewhere in the Cancun/Riviera Maya area for the same price or slightly more. We had a good time because we were here with family and friends and we made the best of it. But if you are just a couple looking for a good time - this place ain't it.
