We stayed here for 7 nights recently and had a great time. The location is fantastic as it is right on the beach and steps away from 5th Avenue. There are lots of lounge chairs and umbrellas to use for free as guests of the hotel which we never had a problem getting. We only had a couple of drinks during our stay and had the Nachos once and all were very good but we like to adventure away from 5th Avenue to eat where the locals go and bought beer and Tequila locally for a fraction of the cost. The room was kept clean and the view awesome as you get some great sunrises. The toilet worked great and we had lots of water pressure but no hot water for a day and a half but sh*t happens. The bed was firm but comfortable and we did not have any back pain. The A/C worked great too. There is some noise from the club next door until late in the morning but we knew that before going and it did not bother us. The pool was refreshing as it is pretty cool and there were no issues checking in or out. We will return in the future for sure.

My wife and I stayed at Mimi del Mar for four nights for my birthday. We have been coming here for around 10 years and while it is not a 5* resort, it is clean, directly on the beach and reasonably priced. The main reason we return every year is the staff including the office staff. When we arrived in August we found out the Owners daughter and her husband had taken over management in the office and the other guys were let go. Also the chef was gone along with a few other familiar staff. The menu had changed significantly and you could tell it was hurting business at the beach bar and restaurant. A beer now at Mimi is 80 pesos with the surrounding places charging 45-60 pesos. In February of this year you could buy a bucket of 5 beers for 250 pesos (50 pesos per beer), but no promotions anymore. Not affordable to spend a lot of time here. The staff rely heavily on tips, so if there is no business there are no tips. Also moral is low amongst the staff. the second day we were there, the head of housekeeping had a disagreement with new management so they sent her home for the day, leaving nobody to clean rooms. Our room was not cleaned that day, and one of the guys from the bar staff cleaned as many rooms as he could for the new arrivals. Hopefully Gustavo and Mimi notice the decline in business and make a change, otherwise I fear the staff will have no other choice but to look for work elsewhere. I understand things change and am willing to roll with changes, but if the staff leaves we probably wont return.

We didn’t receive the warmest of welcomes but we were allowed to leave our bags in reception as we arrived before check in. The room itself was well equipped with stove and fridge however the cleanliness left a lot to be desired ie. hairs on the floor in the bathroom. Even though we hadn’t opened the doors, there were a lot of mosquitos which attacked us throughout our stay. The poor quality of the toilet seat caused me a painful pinching! The noise. This was the main problem. Even though we tried to drown it out with the air conditioning and fan on high, the continuous thumping from the beach club next door carries on until the early hours. Even though we were given free sun loungers on the beach in front of the hotel, this was not a relaxing experience as at one point I had five members of the bar staff directly in front of me attempting to lure customers in. With such a busy beach, we were pestered by locals offering souvenirs, massages etc around every 4 minutes. Raul at the bar was great though, we liked him

“Hotel is just ok bar and staff are great”

The hotel is nothing special run down and a bit dirty needs work but the bar and restaurant is amazing the staff are all so friendly and make this place great . Would be a must stay place if there was no noise it was cleaned up / lots of maintenance done . I wish there was another page for the bar and restaurant alone because they would get 100% for sure they are great .
