It's rare that a resort can turn a potential disaster into a showcase of exemplary service, but that's exactly what Banyan Tree Resort in Mayakoba, Cancun, Mexico, achieved during our recent family vacation. Despite the looming threat of Hurricane Beryl, the resort staff's unwavering commitment to guest satisfaction transformed our stay into a week of unforgettable luxury and warmth. The true hero of our experience was Executive Chef Alfonso De La Dehesa. As Hurricane Beryl approached on July 4th, coinciding with our daughter's 19th birthday, we fully expected our celebration plans to be cancelled. In fact, seeing the staff busy with hurricane preparations, we proactively offered to cancel the event, understanding the gravity of the situation. We would have completely understood if they had needed to prioritize storm readiness over our personal celebration. However, to our absolute amazement, Chef Alfonso not only insisted on proceeding with the birthday dinner but elevated it to an extraordinary level. He orchestrated a culinary masterpiece that left us in awe, preparing not one, but two exquisite paellas - one meat and one seafood. These were accompanied by a delectable spread of croquetas, garlic shrimp, grilled Spanish chorizo, and bruschetta topped with premium Jamón Ibérico. The custom-made birthday cake and elaborate decorations, including oversized gold balloons, transformed what could have been a cancelled event into a magical celebration that our family will cherish for years to come. This extraordinary effort wasn't isolated to our birthday experience. Throughout the resort, staff members consistently went above and beyond, even as they diligently prepared for the incoming storm. Rafael Del Corral Lopez, the Operations Manager, ensured that every aspect of our stay was seamless, balancing guest satisfaction with necessary safety precautions. Israel Camargo in Food and Beverage maintained impeccable service standards, while Maggie at the Kids Club kept younger guests entertained and safe. By the pool, Victor and Gema provided attentive service that made each day a delight, regardless of the weather. The guest services team, led by Ana Pao and Laura, anticipated our needs before we even expressed them. In the kitchen, Sous Chef Rodrigo Gallegos supported Chef Alfonso in maintaining the resort's high culinary standards throughout our stay. The resort's commitment to relaxation was evident in every aspect of our stay. At the spa, Carlos and Olga expertly recommended massage treatments that not only soothed our bodies but also melted away any lingering stress from the storm, While Erick and Luis ensured we were always promptly and courteously transported around the expansive resort grounds. A special mention must go to Leiba, a charming Argentinian staff member whose warm personality and attention to detail enhanced our stay immeasurably. At the helm of this exceptional team is Juan Carlos Cardona, the General Manager. His leadership is evident in the seamless coordination and unwavering dedication of his staff, even in the face of challenging circumstances. In conclusion, Banyan Tree Resort at Mayakoba is more than just a luxury destination; it's a masterclass in hospitality. The staff's ability to turn even a potentially disruptive event like a hurricane into a memorable experience speaks volumes about their professionalism and dedication. Absolutely fantastic! Banyan Tree Mayakoba made our anniversary celebration truly unforgettable. From the moment we checked in, to the time we checked out, we experienced Mexican hospitality at its finest. Special thanks to Juan and Paulina for their exceptional assistance and attentiveness to our needs throughout our stay, ensuring everything went smoothly. We also want to extend our gratitude to Marisol, Mayra, Ximena, and Daniel for their excellent customer service and warm, inviting smiles, which made our dining experiences delightful and memorable. The staff at this resort are in a league of their own. No other place I've been to, in my 40 years, compares to this place. The welcome by a smiling Juan Oropeza, and the continuous attention to our needs by Juan and Paulina (Poly) are unmatched. Then you have people like Mayra and Daniel that we would see each morning at breakfast who were extremely welcoming and nice. Daniel was always working so hard to make sure his guests were well cared for. Overall, the team at Banyan Tree have cemented my belief that Mexico is where I want to call home. The smiles, the genuine care, and overall atmosphere make this a dream place. I definitely recommend this place for anyone looking to relax and enjoy friendly faces.

The best hotel experience of my life thus far. Granted neither me or my partner had ever stayed in a 5 star hotel before but we will be looking for Banyan Trees worldwide from this day forward. Some highlights about this hotel in particular + Staff: every single employee without question was helpful. Charming. Delightful, professional, and went above and beyond for us. Whether it was fixing a reservation that got in booked for the wrong day, helping us with our bikes when one went missing or just simply coming within minutes to bring over some milk for coffee for room service you really feel welcomed here. Special shout out to Caro who checked us in, and was truly an all star that made the first day really special +Architecture/Grounds/Property: so many moments where you feel like you chose the right place because of how special the layout is here. I really recommend biking to the beach through the grounds or taking a boat to the Saffron restaurant. The whole layout is so beautiful and serene and makes you feel transported. The pools and beach club are also absolutely 10/10. +rooms: we stayed in a bliss pool villa and the level of privacy and comfort and feeling of luxury was very apparent. We loved the outdoor bath as well. Some tips; - bug spray! No surprise but they like to bite here! - rent a car: it's fun to adventure out of the resort to get some local food (cheaper than the food at the resort which was good but a bit pricey) - check out some of the beaches off property - the one we drove to near xpu-ha had much less seaweed and a bit nicer than the one at the resort though the beach at the resort is fine. Overall cannot thank the Banyan Tree enough and was left feeling so impressed by this brand and can't wait to check out some of their other hotels!
