Sergio and Diego were excellent servers. Went above and beyond at dinner. They made our experience great. I really liked the location and hearing the waves at dinner. The coconut shrimp are great. Good overall ambience. Diego made us his specialty.

We had a fantastic family trip! The staff at this resort especially made our trip wonderful. Victor, Luna, and Berlin made our breakfasts at Pina Colada lovely. “Resort is above average, food below average, drinks watered down but the day-to-day on property staff were wonderful!”

My family of 5 just returned from our week at Wyndham Grand Cancun. Overall we’d say we had a great time and would return some day, although, I’m sure if we have opportunities at other properties that we feel fit our needs, we’d not miss this property either. First, the bad. Check-in was relativley smooth with only a “soft” sell on the property’s vacation club and excursions. But the problems started when we entered our 3 bedroom villa (1016). Main problem… air conditioning. The air was non existent in one bedroom (80 degrees) and the other the system blew warm air (78 degrees). And in the main level, the temperature was 76 degree with the thermostat not able to be set lower than 71. Also, the bathtub in the master bedroom was absolutely disgusting… with dirt and sand at the bottom and black mold on the jets. How they felt that this room was ready for guests we have no clue!! Then the real kicker… after workers worked on the AC issue for two hours, they just left. When we asked them “all good?”. They said “fixed” as they shut the door. One bedroom was fine, the other they never fixed, nor did they touch the main level AC. It was 6:00pm so our guess is that it was the end of their shift and they just went home. The girl at the front desk got an earful. She said there will be three villas available the next day. So we agreed to see them then and make a decision. Then next day the manager Manuel promised the villa 1015 is MUCH better…. and it was. We moved in and we were happy. But they need to fix up their property so this doesn’t happen in the first place. 1016 was mentioned in other reviews going back to June. JUST FIX IT!! VERY frustrating and not a good first impression. Second issue was we were provided NO information on any New Years activities. The girl at the front desk said “they are working on it”. She did make 3 dinner reservations for us as an accommodation. BUT it turned out, they never happened and we were left high and dry, all dressed up on New Years Eve and nowhere to go because the place she made reservations at (Pina Colada) wasn’t even open. Luckily we were able to get into DiVinci. Then, when we did receive a schedule of activities we didn’t know there would be a full spread of food. Argh. Very frustrating. The good. Although the front desk personnel obviously didn’t know what the hell they were doing, the day to day people on the property ARE THE BEST. There’s a long list of workers to mention: Francisco and Daniel at the sushi bar, Russel, Luna and Victor at Pina Colada, Luis, Floriberto, Whiskey and Jonathan who all did great with the activities. Andres at DiVinci. And last but certainly not least… JULIO!! If there’s a reason why we would come back to this property it is Julio on the pool deck. He’s the absolute BEST and would bend over backwards to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. He made all the problems we had in the first two days of our vacation go away with his fantastic service and his constant smile!! Generally, the food was ok, but it was practically inedible at LaPalarmo and the steak at LaVista was just bad, really bad… which is interesting considering it’s a steak place. But, the fantastic sushi at the sushi bar, tacos at La Mexico and burgers and wings at the pool grill made up for it. And we had 3 great meals at DiVinci where the staff was fantastic! Overall the property was clean, the views of the blue ocean are spectacular and the beach is great. But Wyndham needs to spend some money and rehab their villas especially the AC units.
