Things to improve: As repeat guests, it would have been nice to have been given an upgrade as a show of recognition for our loyalty. That didn’t happen. The room with 2 QQ was adjoining and the neighbours were LOUD, and there was no sound proofing. The lagoon view rooms were OK, but the road noise was next level, making it hard to sleep. We had a DO NOT DISTURB sign on and someone came in on the first day. The balcony door was not locked when we checked in. There’s not enough counter space or table space in the room to put stuff on. No luggage stands in the suite we had. We asked for one, but there were no extras. The booking of restaurants was ridiculous: didn’t work on the app nor the computer. Lobby Washroom was too dark and one always out of service. Pool washroom was not flushed. Our room toilet smelled of sewer. There were not enough stools for the lobby bar tables. The boxing gloves were SO SMELLY. We came in spring break and noticed a second pool. This time, it was gone. Would have like to have used it for some quiet pool time. The alcohol used seems different: the tequila served during spring break didn’t give me a headache. This time, it did. The WiFi is spotty. Repeat customers should be given a night at the Tacos Villanos as part of the package. THE GOOD We love the location and lay-out of the hotel. We also enjoyed the family feel of it, but no children running around. (Thank goodness.) By family feel, we mean we felt like we are part of the Nyx family. This is why we came back within a year! We love the palm trees view from the pool. While the road is noisy, we love that it’s close to the bus stop, downtown and La Isla. We enjoyed the lunch served at The Deck by the beach. There’s a lot of variety and the food was prepared well, for the most part. The food at the other restaurants were pretty good as well and made for a good change. The activities and entertainment was great! We enjoyed the yoga, bracelet making and shows. David helped us getting an upgrade to an oceanview. Unfortunately, we had to pay, but we loved the room we received. Too bad it didn’t have a full pool/ocean view. Our view was slightly blocked by other building structures. Thank you, David. We also enjoyed the evening music and dance entertainment by the lobby bar. The variety of bands were fun. I don’t know about 2 karaoke nights within a week, but Stefanie made us feel confident to sing. 😃 The violinist and saxophone player was a nice touch. The cenote, gummi bear, mangolele, rum runner and pina coladas were delicious! We really enjoyed spending time with the entertainment coordinators, Rodrigo, Jair and Stefanie. We first encountered them on New Year’s Eve, and they were amazing in getting people engaged. Made our New Year’s extra special. The next morning, Jair and Stefanie led the bracelet making. Their friendliness and helpfulness made us want to go back, which we did. We had another great time spending our vacation here. Thank you, Rodrigo, Jair and Stefanie! We hope to see you again, soon!
