I was debating on what rating to give this resort and decided to give it a 4 by the time we left last week. I’ll be honest, it started out as a 1. We exchanged our Interval week into this resort for the week of Christmas. I always call a resort prior to arrival to make sure everything is set. When I called Monday, they couldn’t find our reservation even though I had my confirmation. I was told to call back Tuesday because they don’t get II exchanges right away. That has never been the case in our 25 years of exchanges. I called back Tuesday and after a long hold, they found it. When asking about the view or seeing if I could request an ocean view, she told me they don’t give Interval customers ocean views but could pay for an upgrade at check in if it was available. Hmm, ok. Arrive on Saturday and guess what? They don’t have us down for checking in. Grr! After explaining that I called twice and waiting for a bit, they found us a room. They were completely booked for the Christmas week, so no ocean views were available. We were in building one on the ground level that looked at the adult pool. The room was spacious and very clean. It did have a slight musty smell to it, but I know that’s pretty common in climates like that. Knowing they were full, we just purchased some room spray and aired it out at night when the temps were cool while enjoying our patio. The grounds are really beautiful and the views are amazing. Some didn’t like seeing the large cruise ships but we didn’t mind. The beaches are beautiful but please be careful of the waves! The undertows are SO strong! And it gets deep just a few feet into the water. My husband was less than 6 ft away from me when I was knee deep and it was over his head…he’s 6’3”. Make sure your kids have floatation devices! We sat on the beach chairs the first few days. They are on a weird angle, but we just dug out the sand to level them out and like others have said, the vendors are everywhere but a simple “no thank you” worked just fine. People are crazy about saving pool chairs here. I got up at 6:45 to watch the sun rise every day and I can’t believe how many chairs had been claimed at that time. There are quite a few palms around the pool so some spots are shaded more than others. Food/drinks: We didn’t have the all-inclusive option but could purchase it for $140 pp/per day. Since we had a kitchen (no oven but 2 burners) we went to Walmart and bought some food. We knew we wanted to eat out and enjoy what Cabo had to offer. After 2 days, our server asked if we wanted to do the “pool all-inclusive”. For $80 you could order drinks and eat food from the two restaurants from 10-5. For $100, you could do have from 10-9pm and it included the dinner buffet and show. We did that 2 nights and the $80 options on our last day. I will say that the “pool food” options were wonderfully delicious! The tacos are fantastic and the pizza was top notch. We loved the drink choices too. The buffet food was just ok for us. The shows were very entertaining though! What helped my review boost was the staff. Andres and Naylia. (I think that’s how her name was spelled). They were amazing! So kind and personable! They seriously made our days by the pool so enjoyable. Everyone we met was very kind though. Overall, we really enjoyed our time there and would consider going back to this resort. We liked the location and it was an easy walk or short Uber ride to town. It was our first time to Cabo and we can’t wait to go back.
