My family stayed here two weeks in February after staying two weeks in November. We had two rooms. The weather was absolutely beautiful. 81 degrees and sunny every day. The weather alone is worth the extra two hours of flight time versus going to Florida. The US dollar was worth $20.54 MX pesos which was a great exchange rate for us. The bellmen are great guys and Enrique always had a smile and handshake. There are timeshare people who will approach you in the lobby with a tablet and ask if you are checking in. If you are not interested in a timeshare, just say “no thank you” and walk to the front desk check in area. They are not pushy. Check-in was fast and one of our rooms was ready when we arrived at 11:30am. We had access to the concierge lounge with my Bonvoy titanium status. It is located on the 23rd floor. In our previous stays our rooms were always on the 23rd (top) floor. The sun beats down on the roof and the afternoons were warm even with the a/c cranked up. This time we asked for the 22nd floor and our rooms were much cooler. Definitely worth the one floor elevator ride to the concierge lounge. The food in the lounge was excellent. A variety of selections for breakfast and appetizers in the afternoons. The waiters in the lounge are fantastic. We consider Ernesto, Candi, Ephraim our friends. There were plenty of chairs at the pool each day. Some people saved chairs with towels as early as 5 am in the mornings but we always got our seats after breakfast at 7:30. The pool was warm and pristine. We generally hung in the pool area until 1pm. We had lunch every day. Marco, Gama, Gabriel, Mariano and Liliana were our waiters. They always were there to get our drinks and good. We alternated between burgers, club sandwiches, pizza and guacamole and chips. All were tasty. Activities included volleyball, water aerobics and other games. Marianna, Ivan, and Jimena are so energetic and engaging. They also have black jack, tastings, and poker. The location is perfect. We walked to the Malecon (downtown) each day. I used the gym everyday and it was well equipped and clean. We were sad to leave, but we are booked to return in November and January 2026.

“BEST RESORT IN PUERTO VALLARTA”
The buildings are all upgraded and swankly modern. The grounds are magnificently tropical and lush. 5 restaurants and 2 swim up bars, one in each huge pool. And the staff is just endearing.Closest grand resort to downtown PV.Based on 20 years of experience.

We were trying somewhere new this year after writing the Canto off. We were going to stay at another mid-tier comparable resort such as the Friendly Fun. But instead decided to spring the extra $2000+ for 10 nights and stay here AI in the cheapest room. We can most definitely say that it was NOT worth an extra $200+ a night to stay here over a lower tier AI resort in the area like the Canto/Friendly/Plazos/Krystal, etc. The Good: -property is gorgeous. Pools are huge, heated, beautiful. One is quieter and one has more activity. Not overrun with kids. Pool bars make great drinks and have good service. We had a ground floor garden view room, so lowest tier but we were very happy as the majority of suites have no balcony and we had a huge patio, see pics. Beds comfy. Housekeeping is good. Concierge is VERY helpful. Front desk staff are pleasant! Lots of staff speak very good English. Buffet has lots of selection and the service there is excellent, they always want to make sure you have a mimosa. the staff there are absolute gems! -excellent music and ambience at restaurants. Examples: Mariachi band on Thursdays, piano at Gaviotas, xylophone duo at buffet, the saxophone player who plays at a variety of locations on the resort. -LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!!!! The Bad: -Buffet food is always, always cold. Either the warmers don’t work or they aren’t on. We aren’t food snobs and would never complain about the food if we weren’t paying so much to stay here. However, if you aren’t going AI, do NOT eat here. Attached are some photos of what passed for a la carte food and what they are asking for people paying out of pocket. I think no one actually pays for a few sips of broth with cup-a-soup noodles and a couple tiny pieces of zucchini for $190MXN, they put those prices on the menus for the AI folks think they are getting their money’s worth. Many things are not as advertised on the menu at all and way lower quality ingredients substituted. -Nothing online is really updated. The hours of restaurants, amenities and menus are outdated. A example is you can’t get snacks after 5pm. No big deal, but they advertise a snack bar until 7 and snacks in the lobby (there’s not, ever). So make sure you get up to date info from the front desk/concierge and don’t be dazzled by their very misleading website that promises a lot and doesn’t deliver. -Service was pretty bad outside of the swim up bar and buffet. It was almost non-existent around the pool (they seemed understaffed) and completely non-existent at the lobby bar(not sure why). If we had have been given a chance they would have seen that we are good tippers and brought a lot of cash to tip but we never ended up needing it for servers. There were some people that did get service in the lobby bar but I wonder if they were long time regulars because we always had to go up ourselves. So it is unlikely we will return unless we get a deal that more accurately reflects the value Definitely worth more than the cheaper places without as nice of pool areas but not $200+ per night while staying in the cheapest room.
