This was our families first trip to Puerto Vallarta and this hotel was recommended by friends of ours who had previously stayed. After looking online we thought we would try it out. Well it did not disappoint. As soon as we arrived the staff was excellent and super friendly. We selected "ocean view" when we booked and WOW, what a view. Our room was looking over the beach and you could smell the ocean. Our room was excellent. There was a Queen bed with two singles. The beds were very confortable. The air conditioning kept up with the heat when we needed it to do so. This hotel is kept very clean! The pool was perfect and clean. The restaurant staff were extremely friendly and very patient with my attempts at Spanish. We had breakfast at the restaurant twice and both times it was very good. If you prefer modern amenities (modern shower, modern hotel/resort) then this might not be your place. This hotel has character but doesn't lack anything that a new hotel might have. The location of this hotel could not be anymore perfect! It starts at mile 0 of the Malecan. There are excellent restaurants near by and the area was a joy to explore. When we go back we are without a doubt staying at this hotel again.

Hotel Rosita is a traditional Mexican style hotel located at the northmost end of the Malecon. Most of the rooms appear to have a view of Banderas Bay. Mine had an oblique view even though I had paid extra for an ocean view room. Upon 3 pm check-in a green plastic hospital style bracelet will be applied to your wrist for the duration of your stay. No one can enter the rooms without the bracelet so don’t plan on smuggling anyone in. The local street vendors and employees along the Malecon will be aware you are staying at Hotel Rosita by site of the green bracelet. You may experience loud cat calls from them, as I did, referencing your stay there. There is a sandy beach to the back. There is a small hotel pool next to the restaurant, mainly occupied by children delightedly screaming. The restaurant is open air but roofed. The local birds are free to perch on the backs of the chairs and walk across the tables depositing their calling cards as they may. The bees will seek out the runny jam your waiter places on your table. Make sure to cover the squeeze bottle opening with a wadded-up napkin, or you may wind up squirting one on your toast as I did. Be advised that the hotel advertises a free breakfast. What you are not told until you get there is that you can obtain the breakfast only with a dated coupon they will not give you until the next day if you remember to ask. Breakfast is one glass of OJ, 2 slices of french bread, a few ounces of a particular seasonal fruit and coffee. If you don’t care for this you can pay about $10 more for a buffet style breakfast of eggs, sausage, and chilaquiles. I think the timeliness of the service may depend upon the number of guests, but not necessarily. I remember waiting at least a half hour after being seated for the young man to come back and take my order, and I was the only guest in the restaurant. Service is leisurely. My room was mostly clean. The bed was a bit hard but at least it wasn’t saggy. I cant speak to the last time the white coverlet was washed but it had red spots on the edge so…. The hotel has 2 functioning elevators. The main quality of this hotel is its location. A nice touch from the hotel was a beach towel Christmas gift. (I was there at Christmas). Taxi cabs are always available just outside on the street to take you anywhere.
