“Beautiful Paradise”

This was our second time at the RIU Vallarta and I look forward to returning next year. The staff are second to none and the food is delicious. You certainly will not go hungry. You must add this resort to your “to visit list”. Fabulous!!

“Fun in the Sun”

The folks that operate the Riu were great, very friendly, helpful, and lots of fun. They only concern was the shower needed some attention to the seal around thexdoor.

Let me start by saying the mattresses are the worst. They are extremely bland in a bad way, and we were told we were in a renovated room. For me this was one of the worst sleeping experiences ever. Everything else was pretty much what you can expect at these types of resorts. The kids section is pretty much nonexistent. If you have small children keep in mind that there's not much for them to do here. I also have to mention that checking-in was terrible and very slow, considering there was absolutely no line. I walked directly to an agent, I had previously checked-in online and still took forever to get our room. We drove to this hotel, there was no bellman nor anybody to give us instructions so we parked right in front since we brought several suitcases. Minutes later, a bellman was yelling through the lobby looking for us rushing us to move our car. Maybe have someone there from the start to help guests next time? Also at check-in, Natalio was somewhat rude. He was very condescending and explained in a bad manner that there were no reservations for the specialty restaurants. He also mentioned we would get a two-bed and one sofa-bed in our room, which was not true. We were not expecting the sofa-bed, but why mentioning it if it weren't there? Speaking of food: other reviews are right, you can skip the Italian place. Food is again what you would expect and for us the best restaurants were the Asian one and the steakhouse. Other than the missing bellman and Natalio, the staff was great. Overall we had a good stay, I'd recommend this hotel if you find a decent deal and you don't have small children. Oh, I almost forget it: there were a few small roaches in the room. What a joy.
