We always enjoy staying at this very well managed hotel right on the beach. The staff are always very friendly and helpful and make us feel at home. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms very clean. We have never had any need to complain about anything. The pool and surrounding area are kept in good condition and the restaurant and bar next to the pool is well used by us. We are looking forward to returning to the El Pescador Hotel in the coming months.

I am so glad I chose this great little hotel for my short stay for my first visit to Puerto Vallarta! As a solo traveler on a budget, this hotel was perfect, I was able to fall asleep to the sound of the waves right in front of my balcony, it was just a two block walk to the beginning of the Malecon, had a great little pool with drink service and a light continental and breakfast included but more than anything, just wonderful staff that really went above and beyond during my stay! The beds were comfortable, maybe a bit on the harder side, and the pillows could definitely be replaced with newer ones as they were a bit lumpy,but I loved the full-size refrigerator in the room, the AC was strong, the bathroom had everything you'd need, the room was very clean, and it was very quiet at night to the point where I would just crack open my sliding glass door to the little balcony and fall asleep to the sound of the ocean. The sunsets were just beautiful and I didn't feel the need to go anywhere else to watch sunsets since I had the best view from my balcony. I was in corner room number 250 and highly recommend this room. The only improvement I would suggest to the hotel is to remove or change the ugly metal fence that separates the property from the public beach since it almost looks like a cage. Rooms on the bottom floor will have a view through this fence so definitely get a room on a higher floor if possible, and definitely pay extra for the oceanfront room. I also recommend booking directly through the hotel site to not only get the best price but also the free breakfast included. I had mistakenly left my cell phone in an Uber driver's vehicle one night, and both the night and the day staff from the front desk really went out of their way to help me get the phone back, and it eventually was returned the following night thanks to their help! I also loved this area of Puerto Vallarta and was so glad I stayed here rather than the Zona Romantica or Hotel Zone since right around the corner of the hotel were several excellent restaurants, bars, an Oxxo, grocery store, bus stop, and especially the great street food vendors. This is a no frills, classic old school Mexican hotel, and an amazing value, and I would definitely return here on my next visit to Puerto Vallarta!

“A great place to spend a night or 2.”

The room was great, very quiet even though it overlooked the street. Beds were comfortable and having a fridge was great. The pool area is nice with lots of loungers. The free continental breakfast is pretty small but ok. The location is close to the Malecon making it easy to walk.

Here are the stuff I wish I knew before I came: 1. There is a “light” breakfast included with the price you get a coupon for. It includes bread, some fruit, coffee, orange juice, and free margarine and jelly. You can do paid add ons such as ham, eggs, bacon, oatmeal etc. which makes your breakfast satisfying yet still pretty cheap. They also offer “menu of the day” lunch from 1 to 7 for about 100 peso per person. It’s usually a soup or salad, a main dish, and some drink. Their overall lunch menu is pretty good and better than some of the surrounding restaurants. 2. The ocean here is very dangerous and “pulls” hard so it is not suitable for kids or people that can’t swim. If you’re it, just stay by the pool. Note that the beach is mainly used by locals and if you want to do a “fancy” beach, you should go elsewhere. 3. The entire hotel is targeted towards local families with kids, and the majority of the guests are exactly that. It is loud, the pool is always full of kids, and it’s tough to get a table at breakfast. 4. The walls are thin and there is zero privacy like I’ve never experienced below. I could literally hear the water from the shower of my neighbor as well as every single thing happening around my room. EVERY! 5. There is a rule forbidding people without bracelets to enter the rooms of the hotel and there are a couple of people checking for bracelets all the time. 6. If you’re a gringo/gringa, prepare to pay the price. It leaves a bitter aftertaste that the people are t try big to make you pay more or are charging you more even though there is a price sticker saying by how much something n costs. You may get different, more expensive food, or just overall get charged extra. 7. Yrs, the location is pretty good and you can walk everywhere, including Pepe’s tacos which is really close. Avoid buying stuff from next to the hotel though and walk down the street a bit to get better prices. 8. If you can, do pay extra for the ocean view room. I didn’t and felt bitter about it during my stay. In this specific hotel it is worth it AND you get a fridge so you can buy food from the grocery store In The back and save on lunches or snacks.
