Group of 6 golfers just returned from our 14th annual trip to Castilla.As per usual, the service, the food and the golf was outstanding! Before we left there was a govt advisory about Mazatlan, but as we found out there is really nothing in Mazatlan but some incidents outside of the city much further away. We continued with our activities in Zona Dorada like we always do, pretty normal and had a great time. Really wanted to thank Leissie,the Reservations Manager who does an incredible job with our room arrangements.A pleasure to deal with. In Club Elite Fernanda and her team really took good care of us, very much appreciated. Golf is across the street and Marta and her team at the club house are great to deal with. Definitely looking forward to our 15 th golfing trip to Castilla in 2025 and would highly recommend El Cid Hotels.

Check in: went relatively smoothly, not happy about the resort fee of $105 USD per room when checking in! I have never stayed at an all-inclusive that make you pay this fee! Check in: went relatively smoothly, not happy about the resort fee of $105 USD per room when checking in! I have never stayed at an all-inclusive that make you pay this fee! Rooms: older but relatively clean, they miss the finer details like staining on the tables (as shown in pics). They also charge you for bottled water in your room and coffee!! Again, never encountered this at any or he all inclusive! No fridge in rooms so no pop or beer. Pool/beach: beach is nice, found some lovely shells and a sand dollar. Pool is freezing cold at the Castilla side, El Moro pool is heated but filled with kids! Drink service right to your chairs and friendly service overall! Food & Drinks: food is decent, if you don’t like something there is always something else. We tried the Italian (very good), Japanese (at the Granada) and Mexican which was fair, otherwise we ate at buffet or downtown one night. Drinks are not top shelf but decent. Waiters in the buffet are awesome and will remember your name! Not a whole lot to do after the dinner shows which are in the buffet area from 7-8pm. You could go to lobby bar for karaoke but they don’t have a lot of seating in there. The resort overall was good, lots of locals stay here. If I came back to Mazatlan, I would probably choose somewhere else just due to the extra fees, but we did enjoy our stay!

Overall this place was good. We paid for the all inclusive Pros: all the staff were really good, location is good and the pool was nice. Room was ok A la carte food was good Cons: - No fridge in room so no beer or bottled water although water was purified at the fountains in the hallway. - No free alcohol in rooms - Coffee at the resort was terrible , I believe it was instant coffee - Food was mediocre, most days it was cold, we were the first people at the one breakfast place and it was cold -no late snack bar - pool/patio bar closed at 9 - indoor bar had no food or snacks We always liked watching the sunset with a drink or having something before we headed out, so not having that was a disappointment. We could buy beer but then it would just be warm as there was no fridge. We did walk downstairs to the bar and went back to the room numerous times. Coffee in the room was not free either, 15 peso every day, not the end of the world but not all inclusive at this place. Overall it's the location that sells this place, it's a dated hotel in need of refresh You can't book a la carte in advance only 24hrs, they were booked up twice when we tried, you pay more to be able to book more than 24hrs in advance, just bizarre. Only two elevators were working the entire time so it was a constant wait to get to our room as we were on the 14th floor, one day it was down to 1 working elevator and the wait was so long that we used the stairs.
