The resort is huge. So much to do. It’s like a Cruise ship, but without the crowding and lines for everything. Had a blast.

Let me start up by saying that I have been to several RIU resorts since 2015 and I am a class member. In March went to RIU Santa Fe and had a great time as well as a beautiful partial ocean view room . In May we went to RIU palace in Puerto Vallarta and had a great time and a great partial ocean view room. We are here again at RIU Santa Fe in July. Unfortunately, I cannot say that we are having a great time or a beautiful partial ocean view room. This resort has gone down since visiting in March. POSITIVE: Restaurants: all the restaurants/buffets are very good with exception of the steakhouse (way overcooked meat). Service: all the service workers inside the resort are wonderful and helpful with the exception of the front lobby desk. Rooms: they are clean and spacious. However, if you book a partial ocean view room you lack a view for some of the rooms. (See negative comments) Pools: beautiful and large on the resort. There are plenty of lounge chairs, huts and umbrellas. However, at the infinity pool, the umbrellas need replacement as they are broken, damaged and do not cover the sun. Entertainment: shows or bands every night. Some shows are better than others, but the staff does a very good job and work hard. Bars: all the bartenders at these bars are very hard-working and appreciate tips. If you want any type of better liquor, you need to ask for it or you get the house brand. NEGATIVE: Room: I booked and paid for a partial ocean view room and did not receive it at check-in. I was given room 7435 and was told there was a view. I should’ve taken a picture but I didn’t because the only view we had was a large tree trunk. I went to the check-in by Villa 7 to ask for a different room and was told she couldn’t help me, that I had to go to the lobby and see a manager. Went to the lobby, stood online with the massive crowd of people checking in. When I asked for the manager, I was told by the check-in person that I had already received a partial lotion view room and told her I did not and if she wanted to come look at the view, she could see for herself. She then proceeded to get a manager who never acknowledged me at all. Instead, Paolo ((manager)) and the check-in girl spoke Spanish and totally ignored me. I was given room 7264 and told it had a good view of the ocean. Again, no partial ocean view.(see my photo of this room). After wasting two hours going back-and-forth and waiting in lines, we decided we weren’t going to wait any longer and just stayed in the room. I will make sure at check out that I voice my issues as continuing to change rooms is wasting my vacation time.. Smoking: this resort is supposed to be non-smoking except in designated areas away from guests and children. This is. NOT followed by guests and there are no personnel to stop this. There is constant vaping and smoking at all pool areas and at night in the entertainment area. Sunday night we experienced a cigar smoker, cigarette smoker and people vaping . When I went to the lobby on Monday morning to air my grievance, I was told“ people don’t listen.“ I asked why there wasn’t more employees and or security preventing this from happening, but I got no answer. Pool Area: there is a lack of supervision and or personnel at any of the pool areas. There were children eating inside the pool, plates of food all around the pool deck as well as drinking cups and at times you had to walk around them to get to the pool. There was one employee who comes in late afternoon to pick up drinking cups, but not throughout the day. I am sad to see this resort go down hill and hope that corporate management as well as this resort management consider these issues and resolve them. I don’t know that I would be back at this particular resort in the future. I’m hoping that the resort management will rectify my situation as I paid extra for a partial ocean view and haven’t received it.
