First stay in the Palace Peninsula. Fantastic hotel, staff great and always very helpful. RIU entertainment team are second to none, kept us entertained all day with pool games, aerobics etc. Always got a smile and word for everyone. Ate most of the time in the buffet restaurant as the meals were excellent. Only niggle I had was the themed restaurants, although the food was excellent in them, the menu didn’t seem to change in them, so it was the same every night. But, as I said, that was only a niggle. Would definitely go back and would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone.

“Amazing getaway!”

My husband and I stayed from June 12th-18th and we were not disappointed. Liz, from check-in, was extremely friendly and welcoming. We were greeted with a welcome drink when we arrived and it hit the spot! Our room wasn't ready upon arrival (around noon) so Liz recommended that we go to the Italian restaurant or the buffet for lunch. She also told us we could use the courtesy room (adjacent to the lobby) to change if we wanted to go to the pool and/or the beach. She explained a little about the resort so we knew what options were available while waiting to check in. We were given the "bracelet" and were allowed to use the facilities while waiting for our room to be ready. We stopped at the lobby bar and were taken away by the amazing view of the blue water and palm trees. The female bartender (sorry, I forgot her name) was so kind to us during the entire stay. She knew what we wanted every time we stopped by that bar. After we went for lunch, which was delicious, we went back to the reception to see if we could have access to our room. Liz upgraded us to a room on the 8th floor (room 834) since we were celebrating my birthday. We didn't mention anything about my birthday, she was the one who noticed. I decided to give her $20 for making our first impression a memorable one. Liz was, by far, one of the nicest and most accommodating person we ever encountered at check-in (we have stayed in numerous places over the past 30 years). Pros: The view from our room was incredible. We were overlooking the pools, palm trees, the different shades of blue waters and could see Isla Mujeras in the distance. The staff at the resort were super friendly and they worked so hard to keep the place clean. We were always greeted with smiles. We had access to the Riu Caribe, Riu Cancun and Riu Palace Las Americas. We liked that we were able to bounce around to the different resorts. We walked to the RPLA and it took about 25 minutes. There is a bus that will take you there, but we wanted the exercise. We felt safe the entire time. We snorkeled in front of the Riu Cancun and saw a lot of beautiful fish. We also snorkeled in front of the Riu Peninsula but it is not as good as the area in front of the Riu Cancun. We stayed at RPLA last year and liked the Riu Palace Peninsula much better. The RPLA had a better lobby bar with a coffee/cappuccino machine and water bottles available 24/7. That is something that the Riu Palace Peninsula should offer as well. Other than that, we liked the staff and the grounds much better at the Peninsula. Our room was cleaned twice a day and the air seemed to work fine. It never felt warm or damp in our room. The mini-bar was restocked daily with beer (dos equis, sol, and tecate), soda and water. Cons: As mentioned above, the sports bar should have a coffee machine and bottled water available. I wanted coffee early in the morning and would prefer to get my own coffee and not have to wait for the bartender to make it for me. The bartender was super friendly but he had to wait on the people in front of me before he could take my order. Therefore, it was about 10-15 minutes to get my morning coffee. It was not his fault, because there was a line in front of me getting specialty coffees/lattes. Suggestions: Make sure you tip the workers. They work hard to ensure that your vacation is a memorable one.

“Great overall experience”

This was our 2nd stay at this resort. They have really improved their entertainment since our last stay. The Riu parties were go much fun and well organized. The food at this resort is exceptional.

“Not what I expected!!!!”

Very nice hotel…. Rooms not so comfortable… old, need to be updated…. Hot day n night… beds are so small… only 1 person fits…. Other than that….. food, drinks… service were incredible and 🫢 awesome
