We stayed in this beautiful hotel for one week. Thank you hardworking staff for your service and hospitality. We loved our room on the eighth floor with gorgeous view of the beach. We had five restaurants and buffet . The service in restaurants is fantastic. Unfortunately I couldn’t memorize all the names. However Nick was absolutely amazing! Always greeted us with a smile when we were there for our breakfast. Again , all staff is brilliant! All bartenders, activity , custodians, front desk workers and all others who have served us- thank you! The property is super clean. There are three beautiful pools. One is VERY quiet , second is quiet and the third one is an activity pool. Always fun to be around . The beach is very nice, clear water , no waves . You can swim safely all day long. No seaweed. They have parties in a different hotel if you are interested. They have a free shuttle every ten minutes . We did not go , but a lot of people did and were very satisfied . Every night there is a show at 9-30 and lasts about 30, 45 minutes. Very nice shows . We really enjoyed them all . We are definitely will be back ! Thank you again Riu for the unforgettable and wonderful vacation!

“Best Resort on this strip! A true 5-star resort”

This is a spectacular resort for adults only (not 'couples' only). We were upgraded to a sea view room overlooking the smaller pool and the sea. Very spacious room with seating area; king-sized bed and large bathroom. Daily room service ensured the suite was always tidy and clean. The resort features 6 a-la-carte restaurants; all included in your all-inclusive rate. Each restaurant is unique and I can say all had excellent food. I was very impressed with the presence of management staff every day in the restaurants; checking food quality and presentation. While all alcohol is included, for those that are wine drinkers, there is a very limited selection of wines. Two reds; one from Spain and one from Italy which was simply table wine. Similar for the whites. Decent but not high end by any means. So lower your expectations if you're thinking you'll have a full array of selections in the wine category. Liquor seems to be limitless. Buffet restaurant offers both outdoor seating and indoor, formal seating (both are self-serve). The buffet offers pretty much anything you can imagine. 3 grilling stations where cooks are preparing food. Salads, fruits, juices, desserts always available in addition to the many different food groups. Gluten free options but very limited. If you have strict dietary issues, you may be challenged trying to eat in the a-la-carte restaurants as they use gluten and dairy in many dishes. They offer a few gluten-free pastas and some breads and a few desserts gluten-free in the buffet. They also have non-dairy milks. Cappuccino Bar: In the lobby; opens at 7:00. This is where you'll get REAL coffee, espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, etc. and not the machine stuff in their 24-hour area. Coffee in the buffet and restaurants is also basic. There is a machine in the suite, but we never used it as there was no creamer, etc provided. Spa: When we saw the outrageous prices for the spa, those 'resort credits' that are given were pretty useless. Their price for a massage on their board that they show you quotes over five hundred US dollars! There are three massage spas across the street and we went to Spa Holistic and had a couples' massage that cost under one hundred dollars including a tip and it was as good as any massage I've had anywhere else. The beach is spectacular! Staff work daily to ensure the beach is kept clean; the loungers are neatly lined up and they will assist in getting you an umbrella. We picked up our towels the first day and then turned them in for fresh towels after leaving the beach and used those towels to pick loungers first thing in the morning so we were ensured a good view of the sea (front row). There are two beach areas; we chose the one directly in front of our room (west side of the resort). The water is clear; there is no sea grass (other resorts on either side of Riu Palace did have sea grass and those resorts do not maintain their beaches nearly as well as Riu Palace). There is a sea sports area to the east between Riu Palace and Riu where you can rent jet skis, Hobi-cat sailboats and can borrow snorkel gear. If you really like to snorkel, bring your own equipment. There are no flippers, and the masks are basic. Entertainment: This was a bit of a let-down for us. We are younger seniors. We do not enjoy all-night parties, and Riu seems to promote that heavily. Most of the parties are at another Riu resort (Caribe) down the road, and they bus guests to/from that resort on party nights. There are 3 or 4 of those a week. In addition, the pool just below the buffet area is what I would refer to as the 'party pool' with the swim-up bar and constant, loud music and games hosted by the rec staff of the resort. If you're looking for a quiet resort, this would not be it. Music starts around 9 in the morning and goes all day. As for entertainment right at the resort, it's very limited. They have a piano player in the bar most nights from 7-8, and might offer a show later in the evening a few nights a week in their theatre area, but we found them to be too late in the evening, and the one show we tried to attend (Sax player) was so poorly attended that we left 20 minutes later. I was disappointed in the amount of groups of younger people that were allowed to book and come to the resort. During our stay, there were a number of these groups, and unfortunately they were loud and obnoxious. Up all night on the beach yelling and shouting. Drinking way too much. You get the picture. If noise bothers you, ask for a room on the west side of the resort on a higher floor to avoid hearing too much of the craziness at night. Our room was on the 2nd floor west side sea front. Floors on the 1st floor have a concrete pillar barrier instead of glass on the balconies, so this may obstruct your view if you have a sea facing room. There are higher floors that also have this concrete pillar wall instead of glass so you may want to confirm that when you check in (if you're fortunate enough to get a sea-facing room). The east side of the resort is overlooking the party pool so you'll have more noise if your room is on that side, so keep that in mind. The center section overlooks the middle pool. A note about tipping: We tipped the housekeeper $2 USD daily. Our room was always kept immaculate. We tipped our meal servers $1 breakfast/lunch in the buffet and $2 at dinner. The guy that brings you your drink on the beach or at the pool; we tipped $1 but we only ordered one drink per day. If you're going to keep this guy running all day, bring more $$ and keep him coming. Keep in mind that several of the hard-working staff are NOT typically those that tourists think about tipping. Take some of those extra $1 bills and walk up to the kid cleaning the pool; the guy raking the sand at the beach; the lady mopping the floors. These are the staff that ensure the resort is kept pristine (which it is). They are so appreciative of this gesture. All-in-all, the experience was very good. I rate it 5/5 because it's a five-star resort. You will not find a nicer resort on this stretch of beach. I wish it was 'couples only' instead of adults only to remove the rabble-rousers that are allowed to book and stay at the resort. The Riu Caribe is the party resort. This is where these folks should be going, and I wish Riu would steer in this direction and make the Riu Palace a place for COUPLES only.

My husband and I visited the hotel in mid-April 2024 and had a wonderful time. We booked a regular room, and were given a corner room on the seventh floor, which featured a large balcony with fantastic views. The room itself was nice and clean, although we did encounter a roach once on the safe in the closet (we killed it). The beach was lovely with white sand. It's not very large, but we had no trouble finding beach chairs. Many vacationers preferred the pools, one of which had constant entertainment and loud music. The cocktails at the bars were not very strong, which is understandable; if you want to be sure to get a buzz, you might want to order beer or wine instead. The restaurants were wonderful. We enjoyed the buffet restaurant for breakfast and lunch, which offered a great variety and quality of food. We loved all the sit-down restaurants as well, with excellent service. Special mention to Carlos and Hannel at the Japanese restaurant for their amazing service. We did have an issue with our transfer. It's important to call the hotel's customer service line to book the transfer, as it's not sufficient to provide your flight number at the time of booking. They need to send you a transportation voucher via email, which wasn't apparent to us initially. My husband thinks that the hotel is very nice but is probably on the verge of starting to show aging so might need renovations/an upgrade soon. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely recommend the hotel.
