“short break at sea”

Excellent location for centre and beach.Spacious room with balcony, Very comfortable. Friendly owner and helpful staff.Breakfast for my Italian wife ,her brother and wife was fine but for an englishman like me disappointing compared with other hotels in Italy. This only thing preventing 5 stars.

Good hotel with helpful staff. Rooms are tidy and spacious. Only the breakfast can be a bit disappointing unless you're a fan of Italian breakfasts (all sweet and low fiber). The continental breakfast was just one table of meats and cheese of a difference. Also, the staff were unsure of breakfast pricing. Whomever we asked gave different rates claiming these are the correct ones ;-)

Pros: - English speaking personnel - close to the sea - nice, clean rooms - equipped kitchen - reasonably good breakfast, not expensive (5 Euros per person) Cons: - TV is really small - cleaning is only on arrival

We picked this hotel as it was close to a beach (walking distance). The staff were friendly and helpful including extending the opening time of the restaurant at lunchtime on the day we arrived. We picked this hotel as it was close to a beach (walking distance). The staff were friendly and helpful including extending the opening time of the restaurant at lunchtime on the day we arrived. The served a very tasty if sligthly expensive lunch for us - still we cannot complain as they did cook for us when they were shutting. The biggest issue was parking, driving to the hotel, there were access gates that restricted access to the front of the hotel. There was very limited on site parking and we had to basically fend for ourselves with the parking in the surrounding area. This was not too expensive and if you were willing to walk 5 minutes, you could get it for free but this was not ideal with luggage and children. The room itself was very nice if basic, we had a very comfortable night. Breakfast was a cold buffet which was fine although there were a lot of very sweet items. I would have liked a bit more savoury but this was not typical in Italy. The beach itself was the biggest disappointment. It was packed with sun loungers that you had to pay for and the people 'renting' these basically were quite snooty about it being a private beach and you couldn't even put your towel down on the sand next to the water. It was noisy, and unpleasant going to the bit of beach near the hotel. This is in contrast to some of the beaches further down the coast which were much quieter and devoid of people hawking sun loungers. Marina di Grossetto was small but had a few nice places to eat. It was some distance from Grosetto itself... so unless you were happy to drive, the better places to eat in Grosetto were out of reach. Price was mid range and fine for what we got. Again my takeaway was the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful but the location seemed suboptimal if you wanted to have a relaxed couple of days by the beach.
