The drive up to the hotel is dramatic, the road zig zagging up through the vertical town - the hotel is spectacularly located high up overlooking the main old town with sensational views across the coastline and to Mount Etna. There is a good parking facility once there and reception are super friendly and relaxed. Our 'Deluxe' room was spacious enough and bright with a large private terrace facing Mt Etna, a jaw-dropping view. Bed was large and comfortable. Bathroom was a bit old fashioned and the need to climb into the bath to have a shower our only criticism. Hotel decor is timeless/contemporary. The hotel's location means you need to use the hotel shuttle to get into town but this is no hassle, it is run to a timetable and you get used to using it very quickly. Breakfast was excellent, they offer lunch but we never made use of this, but do not do dinner. This wasn't a problem, there are so many restaurants in the old town (Rosso Peperoncino was lovely) and a very good one a short walk up the road ((al Saraceno) - use the hotel to book, we always got a very good table! The terrace and pool look lovely though we never got round to using it! If you want a trip to the beach, this is arranged at reception and you are picked up and whisked down to sea level - Lido la Pigna was the best of the two we tried. Mt Etna is a easy drive on the autostrada and well worth a visit. A memorable experience in all the right ways.

This is a fabulous hotel. The views are breathtaking, overlooking the valley to Mount Etna in the background and the sea to the left. These sights can be seen from every level of the hotel. Our room was a deluxe standard and was very good. There was a large double bed, wardrobe, storage box, fridge, bedside tables with lamps and a table and chairs. The bathroom had a toilet, bidet, large sink and a bath with hand held shower, large overhead shower and tap for to fill the bath. It also had a large balcony with two sunbeds, table and chairs and a stool. The dining room is fitted out with many tables and chairs so no-one would have to wait and set out nicely with your cutlery etc. The choices for breakfast are excellent and would cover every need. The staff are unbelievable, they are so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much for them. Special mention for Sam, who operates in the dining room. He is from Glasgow and is really good for info about anything, a really nice lad. Then there is Kathleen who works in the reception area. My wife bought a skirt from one of the many clothes shops in Taormina, but she needed it shortening. Kathleen took it from her and returned it the following day done. And then there is Antonioni who works in the bar area in the evening. I was watching a European Cup match one evening on the television they had installed outside. It got a bit chilly, believe it or not, so I moved inside. Next thing I know Antonioni got a laptop with the match on it and placed it on a table so that I did not miss any of it. There is a shuttle bus that seats 8 that takes you to the town and back. This is a god send as the walk down into the town is very steep. There is a timetable for the journey bookable in advance. Lovely pool and patio area with ample sunbeds.

This really is a lovely boutique hotel absolutely spotlessly clean, Beds changed regularly towels daily. This really is a lovely boutique hotel absolutely spotlessly clean, Beds changed regularly towels daily. Beautiful romantic room that had a stunning view across to Mount Etna - couldn't have asked for anything better. Sun loungers and table on balcony to admire the view. Plenty of sun loungers around the pool which was a little cool (cold) to be honest but the sun probably hadn't had a chance to warm it. As previous reviews state it is up on the hill so unless you are a top class athlete then use the shuttle bus. We did the up and down only once! There is a small charge for the bus but it runs so regularly if you book but considering that a taxi will charge anything from 15-20 Euro's for one way - use the shuttle. Breakfasts were adequate plenty of choice - very good lunches. Use the bus to go to Castelmola only a few euros return (bus stop 2 minutes from hotel) unless you really do fancy the hike up to the most gorgeous village which is a must. Lots of top class restaurants and shops in Taormina. Staff all very helpful and cheerful. Had a lovely time made even more special for Simple Minds fans when we met "the man" himself. Made our holiday.

This is such a special place... All of the staff are so helpful and friendly. The shuttle bus is absolutely brilliant... The hotel is clean and well presented. The view is exceptional! The pool is brilliant...breakfast is great with all sorts from cheese to vegetables.. I went for pastries as v nice. The staff there made it, from the domestics, the bar staff, reception and Sam... All were fab. We stayed for nearly two weeks so when I asked for more coat hangers they were quickly arranged. Nothing was too much trouble. The only thing I would bring next time is my own hairdryer as the typical hotel hold the button down ones in the bathroom are ok.... Day on the beach is well worth it.. all sorted with the hotel too. Very happy memories and we were very lucky to have shared the hotel with most of Glasgow 😂 lovely people. Already planing when to return! Well done Hotel Villa Angela.. Very special place... Grazie Mille (almost got there with pronunciation😊)
