Excellent experience at this hotel - it isn't the fanciest, but it is clean, safe, well located, the staff is very kind, and the views are OUTSTANDING. My room was only for one person (twin bed) but it was sufficient. Few people go to Taormina to stay in their rooms. My balcony overlooking Mt Etna and the Ionian sea made up for any lack of square footage in the room. The hotel arranged a taxi for me to and from the airport, which was helpful. There is a very loud bar that plays live music every night (other reviews also mention this)...I heard it but was able to sleep through it. Perhaps if you are a light sleeper, maybe ask for a room in the front of the hotel, not the back

Lovely hotel - especially if you have a room with a balcony! Front desk is helpful in calling cabs, arranging beach transportation, making recommendations. Lovely hotel - especially if you have a room with a balcony! Front desk is helpful in calling cabs, arranging beach transportation, making recommendations. The hotel decor is fun and unique (it's not a Marriott! It's Taormina!) Location is excellent for access to eating places, the Opera, the amphitheater, the funicular down to Isola Bella, strolling and people watching, and the Porto Catania Parking garage (13 minute walk). BUT.. if you are older or less robust and will be hauling suitcases up the hill to the hotel, you should get a cab down by the parking garage to transport you & the bags up there; it's a pretty brutal ascent on foot (unless you're a Sherpa..). We enjoyed breakfast in the hotel even though it was a bit limited, and the singers at the restaurant below the hotel stopped at 11:50 pm - so they didn't bother us at all. As others have stated, the rooftop bar is pleasant but didn't seem to stay open very late. The staff is quick and responsive in opening the door when you buzz the lower level entrance, and the daily cleaning service was much appreciated. Really a great stay in a relaxed hotel.

Over-all, I was very happy with this hotel. The location is reasonably central -- just walk down some long steps to the main tourist street. I was lucky to have a balcony with a view overlooking the water. But there are decks that any customer can use. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was pretty good by Italian standards (where cakes tend to be served more than eggs). My main complaint is that it seemed that air-conditioning wasn't available until 15 June, although it was fairly hot earlier in the month. There was also some singing until midnight wafting up from a nearby outdoor restaurant, but I liked the music so it was fine. I also find it annoying to have to drop off/pick up my room key every time I go out, but that's pretty common with European hotels.

The excellent location and spectacular view from the balcony make this place a real gem. There is a superb pizza place around the corner and the hotel overlooks the city square, just a bit down the hill. We arrived at the top of the hill and were already on the 4th floor, which is bananas. The decor is retro, but somehow fits the historic building perfectly. The rooms were clean and had updated shutters on the door and large window. The only downside was the weak air conditioning, which the guest has no control over, but it’s not at all a deal-breaker. Full disclosure: it was super-hot outside, so any a/c was welcomed. Overall, the location and view outweigh everything and make this an excellent choice.
