The only 360’ terrance view of Palermo. We had a cocktail evening here and Natalia looked after us very well - she provides blankets to make us feel comfortable in a breezy November evening. She gave us a tour of the difference terraces and gave us a little history lesson of some of the historical buildings that we could see from the rooftop. Amazing experience - unfortunately they open at 5PM in November and the sun sets quite early but it was nice to see the city skylights - can’t wait to enjoy it on a summer eve!

I asked for a room with a balcony and it was over the main street Via Roma. There was a festival and parade the night I got there- then I understood why Rick Steve's issues ear plugs with his travel package. But overall, I liked the hotel. The rooftop breakfast was fantastic. Location was good. Easy walk to train/bus station. Beware the sidewalks are tricky as most in Italy are. My room was comfy and staff was helpful.

“Georgia is on my mind at the Ambasciatori Hotel rooftop breakfast buffet: She's a fantastic waitress!”

I want to let everyone know how terrific Georgia is. . I hope she still works there. She is a delightful waitress at the rooftop restaurant for the breakfast buffet. She made our beautiful breakfast on the incredible terrace with fabulous views all the better. And when I played the Broadway rendition of the song "Georgia on my mind," made during COVID, we both were completely taken by the music. Georgia from Palermo is definitely on my mind.

“Look no further”
Fabulous location and awesome view at breakfast. The staff are so lovely and kind. The rooms are quirky and there is beautiful furniture everywhere. So very glad we stayed here. There is a lift which was somewhat of a relief. We slept soundly.

I stayed at the hotel Ambasciatori for one night to be closer to Palermo airport for my flight home. I was able to check in two hours early which was really great. I was allocated room 510 and there was a lift from the reception which was readily available during my short visit. The door to the room was next to a set of marble stairs and a piano (which I naively assumed was to give an elegant appearance to the hallway). The room was plenty big for me and had a lovely view. It had good air conditioning and the extra glazing kept out all street noise. There was a kettle but the only cups available were paper which were not suitable for boiling water and hot drinks as you couldn't hold them safely. There was a small personal safe which was big enough for passport and money but would not fit a laptop or tablet. There was a small fridge with bottled water to purchase but no actual mini bar. The towels folded on the bed were still damp from the laundry when I went to use them but they were clean so I just aired them and that wasn't a problem. Looking back at the photos on the booking site, there are no pictures of rooms like the one I was allocated. It was an older style very basic room and not the modern style which is shown in the photos. This is worth noting and I might have questioned it if I were staying longer but it wasn't the reason for my 3 star rating. The problem was that the stairs adjacent to the room were a thoroughfare for people going to the rooftop bar, which is open to residents and to the public. Some of the passing patrons clearly believed they knew how to play the piano (they didn't). The constant clatter on the stairs and the occasional burst of amateur piano playing went on until the bar closed at midnight. A lock on the piano keyboard cover (or even a sign on the piano) could have prevented some of the noise. I had an early start in the morning but I imagine there would have been a repeat of this racket in the morning with guests going up for their breakfast. The view from the roof terrace was every bit as spectacular as shown in the photos and it was a beautiful and serene place to have breakfast. My priority, though, was being able to sleep and this was marred by the location of the room. I am possibly being too cynical but I suspect that they gave this room to a lone traveller staying one night to minimise the chance of complaint. When I checked out, I was not asked whether I enjoyed my stay and I think this may be because, as the guest in room 510, they didn't want to hear the answer. As I say, I might be wrong. On the plus side, the croissant I had for breakfast was possibly the best I've ever eaten and the cappucino which is made to order was also delicious. Staff who I encountered were all friendly and pleasant. The hotel is very handy for the train station, being within 10 minutes walk. It is also very well-positioned for sightseeing and enjoying Palermo's monuments and attractions. I would not stay in this hotel again purely because of the risk of being allocated an old-fashioned room or any room anywhere near the route to the rooftop area. The bed and pillows were comfortable but I didn't sleep well at all.
