“Family run hotel in Paradise”

My daughter and I recently stayed 5 nights at Villa Al Mare. The sisters and mother made us feel very welcome. Our room was clean, spacious and bright with French doors to a balcony with the most beautiful view of the sea. The hotel is easily reached by bus from Ischia Porto. I can't remember how long it took to walk to the beach ... because I was only paying attention to the spectacular beauty all around. It's on a cliff so walking is always going to be either down or up! There's a bit of a shortcut involving stairs at one end of the beach. I enjoyed the breakfast (bread, cheese, fruit, coffee) served on a terrace and the homemade jam was delicious. (my daughter has severe food allergies and so did not eat anything at hotel). The pool is great and on the terrace that surrounds it you can find both sun and shade as well as lots of beach chairs. This is not a chain type hotel but rather an authentic Italian family run one - and as such it is delightful.

“Spectacular Views of the Sea”
Villa al Mare is located just a short walk from the beach at Moronti, on the south side of the island. A friend recommended it for its sea views and the friendly management. Villa al Mare is located just a short walk from the beach at Moronti, on the south side of the island. A friend recommended it for its sea views and the friendly management. All rooms have spectacular views of the sea. We didn't miss the crowds of Ischia's cities or their souvenir shops. The island's bus service is quite good and took us wherever we wanted to go. There are restaurants within walking distance, as well as the ones along the beach. Elvira, Paola, and their mother were exceptional hosts, answering our questions and making suggestions. The hotel has a heated pool and a jacuzzi.

The hotel has the most beautiful view from the beach below to San Angelo. Our room, with a shared deck, had a full ocean view. Sit out on the deck and enjoy a drink while gazing at the view. Room was clean. Bathroom was very small. No air conditioning or fan and it was quite hot in August. We decided to sleep with the doors wide open to the shared deck. Crazy maybe, but it was so hot!! The breeze was great. Breakfast was very nice too. We would stay here again!

The hotel is about 20 minutes by bus from the port of Ischia. The bus stop is right outside the hotel. The hotel has a pool and hot tub. The hotel is about 20 minutes by bus from the port of Ischia. The bus stop is right outside the hotel. The hotel has a pool and hot tub. It was not never crowded, so there one can basically swim in privacy. There is a beautiful view from the rooms and from the pool to the sea and the beach. The room was large with a balcony. There is not any fridge and air conditioning in the room, but you can close the shutters during the day and then sleep without any problems. Breakfast is served on the terrace, there is not a great choice, but there are basic things: ham, cheese, bread, croissants, vegetables, yogurt. The hotel is right next to the pizzeria. From the hotel you can walk to the beach for 10 minutes, the worse is the way back - about 20 minutes up the hill. But the view from the hotel is worth it. Chairs and an umbrella,can be used for free on the beach but unfortunately this service from this hotel is provided on the other side of the beach, so it is necessary to walk on the beach for about 15 min more. On the beach you can use the "taxiboat" and go for a trip to St. Angelo (3 €) or to Sorgeto (8 €) where the hot water goes into the sea.

Good value for the view alone! Fantastic view from most of the rooms and all the public terraces of this hotel. Room was comfortable and very clean, with thorough cleaning every day. The small lagoon style thermal swimming pool is gorgeous and the pool is warm and never busy (even in July) - very relaxing and peaceful. Bus stop is literally at the bottom of the steps to the hotel, very frequent, so it is no problem to get either to Maronti Beach (5 mins) or Ischia Ponte (20 mins), so it's easy for ferry/hydrofoil connections. An adequate breakfast, not buffet style, but there are croissants, bread, jam/honey/nutella, cheese/meat if you like and coffee/hot chocolate and juice if you ask. Helps to have a bit of Italian to communicate with the staff, they are efficient but not very chatty or cheerful (or maybe that was due to my limited Italian). Free wi-fi in the hotel public areas and a PC for use if you need it. We were a bit disappointed, having paid for a seaview room, to be allocated a room on the side of the building (No 29) which meant our tiny terrace joined on to another room's larger terrace and we only had half a seaview, but the lovely pool area compensated for this. The hotel rooms do not have air-conditioning - which may be a problem for some in the heat of July/Aug; we found it ok though with the windows left open and shutters closed. All in all: very clean, good value and beautiful location.
