“far too short but amazing break”

had a fantastic break in October. weather was average but the views and facilities more than made up for it. Not to mention the food and staff helping tirelessly to make it a wonderful few days. highly recommend it.

We had a 4 night break at the Parco dei Principi and had a whale of a time. Our room was clean and bright with wifi even though a terrible storm the previous week had wiped out some of their wifi boosters. The swimming pool and the fabulous thermal pool were both super clean. The Hotel Director Giovanni was great and nothing was too much trouble for him to ensure our stay was fun. Although there was a regular shuttle bus down to the beach in Forio if you wished it, he generously ran us around out of hours to restaurants that he thought we would like or to enable us buy ferry tickets for our trip to Pompeii. He even organised breakfast for us at 0500 hrs on our departure day and got a staff member to knock on our door to make sure we had heard our alarm. Would definitely go back.

We stayed back in October, we have travelled to many Italian resorts but it was our first time to Ishcia, what a beautiful Island. From our small balcony we could enjoy time overlooking the sea. Rooms were simple but comfortable- Italian style- tends to be a bit old fashioned but we have found that in many places we have visited. We enjoyed the food, was well cooked and tasty- what's not to love? We enjoyed our stay and if you are not expecting glam and glitz you will too...

My friend and I stayed at this hotel in September 2019 having booked a package through Secret Escapes UK. We found the hotel room to be simple, modest with the decor being a bit dated, and the shower set-up a bit strange (curtain failed to keep water in and shower head fell off the wall every time!) , but the room and hotel overall were very clean and you could see the cleaners working hard every day with the entire facility kept to a very high standard of cleanliness. We had a package that included half board and I must admit we did struggle with the food. We are two Canadians who typically eat healthy food including fresh fruits and veggies however the cuisine was plentiful but more typical of local Italian - heavy on fried breads, some fried fish, pasta drowning in oily sauce, sugary desserts and preserved peppers that were swimming in olive oil. There were no fresh fruits or veggies on offer except a single peach or pear for dessert - which I came to treasure! That being said, the staff were very accommodating to the fact that I have Celiac disease and the manager John personally went out of his way to provide me with gluten free bread once I spoke with him to indicate my food allergy. Also to note is the dining room had assigned seating - meaning we were assigned a table at the start of our stay and ate at the same table for every meal over the course of the week. This was odd to us and proved awkward for some as you were sat very close to the same set of couples for each and every meal. Thankfully our neighbours were friendly and nice to chat with. There is a lovely pool on-site of this hotel and my friend and we made daily use of it - again kept to a very high standard of cleanliness although we didn’t realise the rule about wearing swim caps in the pool and we quickly shouted at by one of the hotel guests, but all part of the fun. There was bar service located near the pool for cocktails in the afternoon however we and several other British guests were very confused with the extremely inconsistent pricing of drinks by the pool - which almost became comedic at times as we were all charged different prices for exactly the same beer or bottle of Prosecco? But once we discovered the variety of shops near the beach we clocked on to the fact that most of the guests were buying drinks and snacks at the shops near the beach for less than half the price and keeping them in the fridges in their rooms and we did the same. There was also a bar located in the hotel lobby but again the service and pricing were inconsistent and at times frustrating to get served. The hotel is in a great location within walking distance to a beautiful historic garden called La Mortella (highly recommend it and do go for lunch or tea in the restaurant!) and best of all the beach and shops. We got in the patten of treating ourselves to a decadent lunch at “Restorante Da Nicola” near the beach most days and then making due with dinner at the hotel. Despite the many oddities about this hotel we really enjoyed our stay and the staff were extremely hard working and the hotel manager John was very kind to help us book a few excursions and trips to the center of Forio. Nothing was too much trouble for John and he was very friendly and helpful. Overall I rate this property as average and good value for money. Although I did not care for the food at the hotel I did wonder how the hotel even turned a profit considering the price we paid as part of our package deal. My friend and I would actually return again if given the chance and I would definitely recommend upgrading your room to a sea-view as it was worth every penny!
