Kind, welcoming and helpful host in Ernesto. Attentive and informative, making sure that you were enjoying your stay, being very patient with my terrible Italian, suggesting places to go and things to see and even taking time to explain the humble beginnings of the hotel and his family’s involvement. Getting to the hotel very straight forward, despite being opposite the main ‘hubs’ of the island, owing to the excellent public transport. Room very comfortable with all of the basic amenities, cleaned to a high standard every morning whilst you dine on the excellent breakfast in the beautiful gardens. My visit was the end of April/beginning of May, so for the majority of my stay it felt like I was the only guest! Maronti Beach on the south side of the island felt similarly deserted. This is no criticism, it was absolutely perfect for me but worth mentioning for other guests that may want more hustle and bustle or for other solo travellers who may feel uncomfortable. I won’t put it in the negatives because it’s absolutely understandable, but dinner wasn’t served for the duration of my stay (one week). A slight disappointment as I had heard very good things about the dinners but, as explained by Ernesto, servings don’t start until higher season when it can be justified. To clarify, the booking was for B & B, so I can’t complain. I will definitely return to experience the food. There are plenty of excellent food options a very short walk from the hotel, along the beach front, so nothing lost ultimately. Overall, I can’t recommend this hotel enough. Perfect for my first visit to this amazing part of the Word, one I hope to return to.

We spent three days here enjoying the beach in August and loved it. We debated between Hotel Maronti and fancier places on Ischia, as well as places on Capri and along the Amalfi Coast. We ended up choosing Hotel Maronti because it was so close to one of the most highly rated beaches and we were not disappointed. In fact, we made friends with a family that comes every year from the North of Italy for that exact reason. * Location: While not right on the beach, Hotel Maronti is very close, with the spots right on the beach being small restaurants. The road is above and behind all of the hotels and restaurants. * Beach: The beach was sandy. The water clear and calm for swimming and playing. There were families and groups of friends and couples, almost all Italian. * Beach Chairs: We rented two chairs with an umbrella for 18 euro about 5 minutes from the hotel at “Belmare”. There was a nice man there who will take your name and reserve you a spot if you ask. We had front row every day. * Water Activities: Next to our Belmare beach chairs there was a man renting paddle boats with slides for 10 EU per hour which our kids loved. * Lunch: There are many small beach front restaurants. Our favorite was Mirage in front of the hotel. * Dinner: Our favorite restaurant was “Paradise” which is up the winding road. It cost 10 Euro to take a Taxi up and we also once took the bus and asked the driver to stop. It was a pleasant walk back down. The restaurant had world class views over the bay. The mussels, in particular, were amazing. On the weekend in August, the patio was full and the owner recommended we reserve. * Breakfast: Breakfast was outside on the hotel patio. We most enjoyed the fresh fruit. * Service: The owner was our main interface and was attentive and welcoming. * Room: Our room was clean and slept 4 comfortably. We were concerned the room might be hot, but we slept fine in the middle of August with the fan. * Transportation: We took the ferry from Naples Molo Beverello to Ischia Port. Across the street on Ischia we took the air-conditioned #5 bus to Maronti. It seems to come about every 20 minutes and took about half an hour direct to the Maronti for a couple euro. It’s mostly a narrow winding road over the top of the island and down the other side and it’s doubtful a taxi would have been much faster. The bus ends at Maronti and it’s about a five-minute walk to the hotel along the beach boardwalk.

We stayed at this hotel for the last 9 days of our mini tour of Italy. It is small and simple, but such a friendly, heavenly place. Nothing was ever too much trouble for Ernesto and his family. Our rooms were basic, but had lovely views of the sea. We had a fan which kept it reasonably cool at night. Breakfasts were good with homemade pastries, jams and freshly picked figs. We had dinner a few times there, which although the dining room sadly isn't outside, the food is made with love and we got to try some delicious local dishes that we might not have chosen had we had a choice. The location on the island is heavenly, moments from the beach. If it's peace and beauty you're looking for then this is the place to be. Much busier on the other side of the island which is easy to get to by bus. Lots of restaurants and bars on this (the best) end of Maronti beach. Highly recommend this place to anyone. Ernesto is a legendary host.
