My husband and I arrived late due to missing luggage at the airport as well as a cancelled boat ferry. The night portiere was very welcoming and sympathetic regarding our missing luggage. We had booked a very nice room booked with sea view, although dark when we arrived. The next morning the responsible day portiere was very concerned about the missing luggage and offered to support by calling the the airport. After our first breakfast the portiere asked if we would like to see a different room that they offered us as a free upgrade! :-) Of course we would! The junior sweet with a large tiled balcony/terrace was absolutely wonderful! During our 8 nights stay the staff has been extremely supportive, making calls to push for the missing luggage (which finally arrived after 4 days!), arranging taxi transfers and suggesting places to visit. The hotel has an old world charm, with beautiful tiles and décor. The courtyard is so beautifully done, with large olive trees, hibiscus and cactus. Pool area is equally beautiful, Olive trees and greenery as well as a nice pool and a warm thermal pool which was refilled every morning from the natural hot springs on the island. I'd like to give Hotel La Scogliera and the staff my highest recommendations - would most definitely like to go back! :-)

“Fantastic”
Great location with easy walk into Forio, and right on the front near good restaurants. Friendly staff, good value. Breakfast perhaps a bit basic, but otherwise faultless. Spectacular sunset views and a lovely courtyard to have drinks in.

If you are in Ischia and looking for an elegant but still unpretentious place to stay , hotel la scogliera is the place to be Reasonably priced , clean rooms , nice decor and cool vibe . The owners make you feel at home and the staff is the kindest and most helpful you could find on the island. They have a solarium with a direct access right to the cleanest water which is just across the street . The solarium is avialable to the hotel guests only and in august ( the busiest period of the year ) this is definetly a big plus The layout of the hotel makes everything easy .. which is what you need where you are on holidays Forio center is a stone thrown away Everyone from the receptionists to the waiters to the manager of the restaurant to beach guard make sure you have the best time possible Very accommodating attitude and relaxing atmosphere . Despite the many places to visit in Ischia .. you feel you don’t want to leave the hotel . Thanks to everyone for making our holidays special Well done guys ! I will surely see you next year

“A hotel with lots of character, great thermal pools and right on the sea”

I booked a last minute solo trip to Ischia last June and stayed at La Scogliera for a week — and I wished I'd stayed longer. The location is ideal — the hotel is set on the end of a quiet road with the sea directly in front — you can walk to a nice beach in about 10 minutes in either direction or pay a small fee to hire a sunbed on the hotel's deck overlooking the sea. Forio's about 20-25 minutes walk away but there are several good beachfront restaurants along the way. The transfer from the port is about 30 minutes, with lots of idyllic views on the way (and the hotel offers a very reasonable price to arrange transfers to and from Naples). You're also a 5 minute walk from the nearest bus stop that will connect you with the rest of the island (I took buses to Sant Angelo, Maronti, Poseidon and Ischia Porto while I was there). This hotel has so much character and that's obvious from the moment you step into the beautiful courtyard, which is an ideal place to read a book or relax with friends at one of the many pretty tables under the shade of trees and colourful plants. There was often a very friendly cat curled up on one of the chairs or in front of the entrance. I was impressed by the reception staff immediately — they offered me a free room upgrade with the option to choose between two sea view rooms + once I'd settled in gave me a tour of the hotel and highlighted a number of places I should visit. During my stay, they were always on hand with advice (eg. how to figure out the local buses). My favourite part of the hotel after my lovely balcony was the pool area - normally pools are smaller than the photos but this pool was bigger and usually there was only 1-3 other people were swimming. There's also an outdoor thermal pool that's very popular and an indoor thermal pool that was always empty when I used it (the decor could do with a bit of tlc but the jets were great). Plenty of sunbeds both in the sun and the shade + a very popular sundeck too. The rooms: some people might find the decor a bit dated but I liked how every room had a different theme. The sea view rooms have really chunky balconies too - enough for two seats, a table and two deckchairs. Comfy bed, good air con and very quiet - only downside was a tiny shower. But the rooms really vary - the other one I was shown was much bigger than mine (which would have been on the smaller side for a couple) but I opted for the one with the best view! The guests: mostly Germans and Italians in their 50s-70s and a few younger families and couples (I was one of the younger guests in my early 30s). Pretty quiet crowd generally but while I was there the hotel had a singer in one night for evening entertainment and lots of people turned up for that. The only thing that stopped me giving this hotel 5 stars ultimately though is the food. I'd recommend booking a room with breakfast included and then going out to eat for dinner as you'll get a lot more variety and there are so many nice places to try in Forio and on the beach (I was a big fan of the pizza at Ristorante L'Ancora). The breakfast is fine but not as good as many other 4 star hotels I've stayed in (I'd like to see more fresh fruit options and more bread options - the best bread always went early). I only ate dinner once in the hotel - it's a la carte and good value but I was left underwhelmed by the vegetable lasagne I had. Overall I would 100% recommend this hotel if you're looking for an affordable stay in a beautiful place with great service and nice pools near the beach. I've just booked to go to another part of Ischia this year, which reminded me I'd forgotten to leave a review for the lovely La Scogliera.

Lovely "old school" hotel with great service, from all the staff, from reception to cleaning team. Gaetano at reception is a real gem and so is his colleague Marcella. The rooms are nice and very clean. We had a large room with sea view - amazing. Nice breakfast options, We only had one dinner at the restaurant and it was excellent. Special touch: home-made sfogliatella for desert. THe hotel is only 10/12 min walk from the centre of Forio which is such a nice place. I would recommend this place and would go back for sure.
