“Get what you pay for”

Stayed at this hotel for about a week with 2 friends (18/19 years). We arrived late at night and were happy to have found that the hotel was open all night. Staff was rather friendly. When the staff saw us coming they had already got the key ready. However, cleaners were very rude, knocked on the d… more

  • The top reviews of Hotel Villa Elisa are: Stayed at this hotel for about a week with 2 friends (18/19 years). We arrived late at night and were happy to have found that the hotel was open all night. Staff was rather friendly. When the staff saw us coming they had already got the key ready. However, cleaners were very rude, knocked on the door, we replied but they still came in and then sighed. The room itself wasn't very spacious. Beds were very comfortable. However, bathroom wasn't very clean. The rooms were cleaned every day by the rude cleaners. The rooms do have airco, however, you have to pay extra. We did not have airco included, which made the room extremely hot. I recommend paying for airco if you are staying there in the summer. We had paid for half board, which meant we had breakfast and 'a three course meal'. Breakfast wasn't very special. Breakfast included: cornflakes/coco pops, bread, cheese, ham, milk, coffee, fruit juice and a croissant. The three course meal was very basic, but I guess you get what you pay for. Starters were: pasta pesto, pasta with tomatoes, tortellini or a vegetable soup. Main courses were: multiple times a piece of meat with salad, one time a piece of fish with salad and one time a hamburger with potatoes. Dessert can not be called dessert. Dessert was a nectarine, plum or a banana. Don't expect to get a drink with your food, drinks will cost extra, however, you are allowed to take your own drinks in with you. The hotel does have a great position. Beach is 100m walk. To walk to the station will take about 20 min. To walk to the old city will take about 30 min. The hotel is surrounded by mini markets and banks. All in all I can conclude that it obviously isn't a luxury hotel, however, you can't expect this for the price. The meals are basic but fill you up and staff is friendly except from the cleaners. If you are not looking for luxury the hotel is fine! A little extra info which may help: in town you can buy tickets from a traveling agency to get to San Marino by bus which only costs 11 euro and is well worth the visit. Two of are favorite bars to go to were Hobos and Maracuja. Both have really nice cocktails, however, Maracuja is cheaper with cocktails starting at only 4 euro and also have really nice ice cream starting at 2 euro, you get a lot of ice cream! Furthermore, the hotel is located at 'beach 57'. Don't expect to be able to put your towel down on the beach. The beach is property of the 'renters' which means that you will have to pay 5 euro per sunbed for a whole day..
