We stayed here for 2 weeks in June and had a lovely time. We have been to italy many times but not this part which was so unspoilt and not as touristy as other places. This hotel is about 1 mile from tropea downhill but is easily walked which we did everyday it was a bit of a struggle walking back up hill but only because of all he pizza and pasta we ate at lunch. The hotel does offer a free shuttle bus for guests. There is a nearby beach with complimentary sunbeds and parasol which was lovely. There's also a another beach in parghelia if you turn left out of hotel keep going left its a real gem there are quite a few steps down but it's worth it. We stayed half-board so had breakfast which had everything you could want plenty of fresh pastries, meats, cheeses, cereals and fruit. We had to choose what we wanted for dinner after breakfast which we did at reception every morning. There's a choice of 3 pastas 3 meat/fish sides and dessert which we never struggled to chose from infact we expected to eat out most nights but only did once the food was very good. The hotel has a lovely pool very picturesque and quiet it's truly an amazing hotel run by a lovely family who really look after you. we will definitely return .

Lovely hotel with very friendly staff and super facilities. Located just outside of Tropea with a private beach and very comfortable sun beds. You can walk there or use the hotel transport. The pool area is lovely too. Tropea is charming, plenty of restaurants and bars and you can wander through the streets without being hassled by anyone. We’re coming back!

“A comfortable friendly hotel with good food in the restaurant”

We wanted to take a look at a less familiar part of Italy. The area around Tirreno is rugged and popular with Italians because of its turquoise sea and secluded beaches. Hotel Tirreno is a 20 minute walk from historic Tropea and there is a shuttle you can book if you don’t fancy the slog back up the hill in the sun. Staff at the hotel are friendly and welcoming. The rooms are clean and well appointed. We had a ground floor room with a sea view. There are nice touches like a sweet left on your pillow each day by the cleaner. There is a safe and a mini bar in each room. The restaurant has an attractive garden and the food at breakfast and dinner is varied and very well cooked. No complaints at all; we had a comfortable, relaxing time. There is an inviting pool with plenty of sun beds and a snack bar. We had a couple of criticisms which stop our review being five star. The pool snack bar menu has many items advertised but only a handful ever available. I would suggest a shorter menu containing items that staff are able to provide - very frustrating otherwise and it happened more than once. Our only other observation is the unnecessary use of cellophane wrapped plastic tumblers, replenished unnecessarily in rooms every day and adding to plastic waste. I would suggest the use of glass tumblers instead - there was an empty cupboard by the fridge for them to go. Overall an enjoyable, sunny stay and I would have no hesitation recommending Hotel Tirreno to others.

We stayed for a week in one of the new rooms by the pool. The room was comfortable with a great mattress. The shower had good water pressure. However there is very little storage space for clothes and no space to hang a full length dress, no space to sit in front of a mirror (only mirror is in the bathroom) and very little counter space in the bathroom. Note there are mosquitos so bring bug spray if sitting out on a night or you will get bitten. We were half board but ate out most nights as the food on a night in the hotel was not great, the two nights we did eat in one night the meat (think it was pork but could have been chicken) was under cooked and pink in the middle and both nights the portion size was very small. Breakfast was OK but the cooked option is very "lightly" cooked. The staff are great and so pleasant always happy to chat and recommend places to visit in the region. The hotel is 10 minutes walk to the train Station at parghelia, 20mins walk to Tropea. The free hotel bus runs to Tropea on a night at 1915hrs,2130hrs and 2230hrs. So many great restaurants in Tropea to choose from and such a great atmosphere. If I visited the area again I would consider staying here but would go b and b only.
